Natural birth

I'm trying to have an all natural birth but seem to be having problems with my hospital allowing me to do so. Has anyone else had this problem?

I had done research and my area just isn't keen on naturals births. All the doctors work in the same hospital and it seems to be the hospital who is stopping me. My doctor seems to just not want to override the hospital. I'm not thrilled at all. She had raving reviews and is my second doctor this pregnancy because te first was so horrible with bedside manners. I'm almost willing to drive the extra half hour to get to a hospital that would be willing to work with me more!! Thanks for your support ladies :)

I'm sorry mama that's rough! I would appeal directly to the hospital. Call and talk to one of the labor and delivery nurses. They should know for sure what is policy versus habit. And most policies can be overwritten by your doctor (ie it's still policy in my hospital to only be given ice chips in labor but my midwife is encouraging me to eat, it's policy to use a hep lock but my midwife will get me out of it as long as I continue to be healthy).

That's why you research your doctors. :( I had many doctors with my first pregnancy cause they didn't care or let me ask, questions. Also they all had different methods of delivering. One of them was natural birth and, they had a water tub in,their facility. Others sounded more that they would give you cesarean if they had too so last but not least I got my doctor I had for my menstrual, periods which I had known, for, years. And,he is very nice,  always asking me,questions, checks my baby through sonogram if,I freak out or something. He is the best (: I'm sorry you're going through this :( but next time, try get a doctor you feel, comfortable with and, look, for reviews as well

Your doctor needs to stop beating around the bush and give you straight answers. We all have a birthing plan and needs to be respected and answered so that we know risks and what will be done if an emergency arises. If you like I can ask my ob about the heparin lock if your ob doesn't give you a straight answer by next week.

No I'm not a military spouse. And I've made a birth plan and my doctor seems to not even care about discussing it. I'm 35 + 2 so it's getting really scary they aren't giving my straight answers.

Are you a military spouse?  I'm only asking because the military hospital gave me a birthing plan and that was one of the options I chose because I to only want medicine if it was needed.

No, they are giving me conflicting answers.  One day they're saying they will automatically administer an IV and continually monitor and the next they agree to a heparin lock on the IV and intermittent monitoring. Also they keep telling me that they "have to ask me about pain medication ever two hours" when I asked if they could kindly not offer to me, that I would alert them if the need arose. Little things like this. I just can't get a clear idea of how natural they will let me have this birth. They seem to want to interfere with a lot of my ideas or just veto them.
