Need encouragement!!!

Ugh, I went to my latest check up on Wednesday at 39 weeks. Still 50% and 1cm. No progress. My doctor isn't sure if she just needs another week to brew or if it's my body telling me that I can't push her out because she is too big. So, the plan is to go in on Wednesday for cervadil (thin the cervix) and Thursday I will be started on pitocin at 6am. At 7am the doctor will come and break my water. So, at this point we are expecting Ava to be born on May 12th!

I am excited, but SOOOOO nervous. I wish she would arrive on her own....The nerves are getting to me and I just need some encouragement. I am scared about the pitocin making contractions more intense very quickly and nervous about the intensity that will come once my water is broken. To women that have been induced...how do you deal with the anticipation and nerves?

I had Pitocin with all 3 of my labors (all 3 where inductions) and my contractions were like normal contractions..they hurt. But they didnt really start hurting until they broke my water. Which is normal. I was over the moon knowing that I had a set date for my little one to arrive and not being stumped in the middle of a party or at the grocery store. And I got to go with my hair done. (and my legs shaved:) LOL

Youll be fine.

How long did you labor after they broke your water? How dilated were you when they broke your water?

I was only dialated to about a 2 with my last labor. I had been on the pitocin since about 6:30 am.
With my first I had my water broken at 9am and delivered at 2:03 pm.
2nd they broke my water at 10 and delivered at 12:18 pm.
3rd they broke it at about 8a.m. and I delievered at 10:09a.m.
I dont think I was dialated more than 2 or 3 cm when they broke my waters but after they did that i had very quick labors. My first (which is normal) took the longest..5 hours.
All were induced and I was about 1cm dialated when I went in for delivery each time.

I was induced with both my girls as well.  I agree with mamaof4410...contractions were normal until my water broke.  Even after cervadil and pitocin, your water could break on it's own.  I was 3 cm each time my waters broke and labored for about another 8 hours.

The nice thing about being in the hospital is that you have access to all you need.  I'm not sure what your plans are but I did have an epidural both times.

No need to stress. As much as we would like our little ones to arrive on their own, sometimes they just need a little nudge.  You'll be just fine.

But I forgot to add..All were natural. I dont know if that played a part in how quickly I went.

My water is being broke about 1 hour after starting pitocin. Is that normal? Thanks ladies for your help. I am still freaked out, but starting to calm down...until the next wave of anxiety hits me! LOL!

Hi Amanda, I posted my experience on the other post for you. You will do fine. Mine was rough but I was ready to do it all over again as soon as I was able to get pg so you do just get through it and you will be fine.

Trying - thanks! I keep telling myself that there are billions of women that have gone through this before me and are just fine. And so many women don't have access to the care and specialists that I do...and let's face it, I feel bad for those that don't have MY doctor because she IS the best! With all this power behind me, I should be more confident that I can do this. I know I can do this, but I have freak out moments. I knew this was coming; I knew she would have to be evicted; but the nerves just get to me.

I am in the market for a time machine so I can skip forward to Friday!!!

I had some freak out moments too! I just gave birth to my little guy in may 1st and he was my first, I actually broke my water before starting contractions and labor didn't start right away for me. They had to give me misoprostil and pitocin. The contractions from the misoprostil were way worse than the pitocin in my opinion. It was rough but you can do it! After 22 hours of labor and 3 1/2 pushing I'm sitting here with my beautiful baby boy laying on my chest. It's the most amazing thing you will experience!

My contractions we worse when I went into labor on my own vs when I was induced. I think its because with the induction I got my epidural right away and with my second I progressed so fast I almost missed being able to get it completely.

I had the cervadil and it took about 3 hrs to start contracting and they weren't bad. but my labour was only 2hrs so it was pretty quick to even contemplate the whole situation Good luck you will be fine and can't wait for pics

I was induced with my first child.started pitocin @ 8.00am,dialated to 2cm,doctor broke my water, then the real contractions hit me,it really hurt,i was already @ 4cm.i couldn't take it,luckily i got the epidural,it started wearing off after awhile,i got 2 boosts of epidural.i was in labor for 14hrs,finally,had my 1st baby @10.29pm,by that time i could feel the pain, cos the epidural wore off again, and the baby was comming real fast that they had no time to give me a boost.being a 1st time mom,i was freaking out,i really thought i would die giving birth, that's how scared i was,in the end it worked out great.i'm a mom of 2 beautiful girls.keep taking in deep breaths and out,you can do it! Goodluck!

i was induced with my daughter,  they broke my water when i was dialated to about 4 (but when i came in i was dialated to 3 so i dont know if they break it before that.) the contractions werent to bad. it was all pretty bearable untill i dialted to about 8 and thats when it really started to hurt. but it didnt last long because before i knew it i was dialated to 9 and a half and it was time to push. wich is awsome cause it doesnt hurt when you push :)  i think from the point they started the potocin drip till it was time to push it was about 8hrs or so. so its pretty quick
