Possible herpes?

I am currently 30 weeks pregnant. I had an ex-boyfriend in college (6 years ago) that turned out to have genital herpes. I have had STD screening and did as soon as I found out. I had a spot several months after we broke up that looked to me like a lesion so I went into the doctor (on campus LPN) who sort of disreguarded my concern and told me that it looked like I had put myself shaving. Since then I have had no problems and nor has my husband. My current doctor knows my concerns and has told me that if I see anything to let him take a look at it. I am concerned that since I have no difinitive proof that I do or do not have it I may have it and have an outbreak at delivery and not know about it. I want to have a C-section to ensure my baby safety (I know the risks and are well aware of the hard recovery). Am I overreacting or is this a warrented concern? Should I at least go on antivirals in the next few weeks? (I also get cold sores) Thank you!

i would just go on meds.. they usually put u on meds at 37 weeks if u have the virus..(my aunt has the virus..so i was pretty up to date with everything during her preg.)

also.. they do an exam on u before u deliver to make sure there  is no sign of an outbreak. the only way they do the c section is if there is an outbreak.

hi, i think that you are very right to be concerned and your doctor should definatly be concerned as you are pregnant, i would definatly go and get it properly checked out but dont self medicate as some anti virals can be harmfull to your baby. maybe see another doctor or go to a proper clinic, i completely understand your concerns i had a scare myself which turned out to be a water infection but if you have a wory like that dont let it simmer away im sure you know its not good to stress yourself. you say you had std screening what were the results? but like i say please dont self medicate you may make things a whole lot worse if the doctor suggests tablets then he will know which ones are safe and good luck get a second oppinion and let us know x
