Midwives are amazing way more loving and understanding to your needs and what you want then an obgyn. And a doula is nice but I don't really see the point since I have all the support I need.
I wanted to do a natural birth my first time but I supposedly needed a c section bc I wouldn't dilate past 6 probably because ot pitocin which made contractions feel like a punishment mite I add but I think it coulda been prevented and next time I want a vbac which isnt necessarily encouraged in America So I watched the business about being born band it completely pushed me to want a midwife bc doctors jus wanna rush your labor abd do anything to get you outf of l&d so the next mother to be can fill your hospital bed but a midwife lets your labor naturally progress and thats wgat I want a natural labor. Sorry for ranting
Maybe watch the business of being born, that may help. I'm the UK we don't use doctors really, we see a midwife all through pregnancy and only see a consultant/ specialist as well if your high risk or there are any problems but the midwives still deliver the babies except for csections and epidurals aren't as easily given out like in some countries, which is better for both as epidurals can slow down labour ending in csection
My OBGYN works with a midwife and I see both of them. I absolutely love it!
I wish there were more midwives in America...in many other countries midwives do all births except for very high risk ones, and their mortality and morbidity rates are so much better then ours! Also, I would highly recommend a doula! I just read an article that said that having a doula decrease your chances of needing a csection by 28%, along with reducing the need for pain meds and other interventions.
I have a midwife an I really like her. this is my first so I don't have much to compare her to but I really like her. I want natural no pain meds birth but still be in the hospital in case something were to go wrong.
I'm from North Dakota && thank you hannahverry
Jennlynn93^^ may i ask where your from? Lol when i first started looking at this app i kept seeing 'OB/GYN'.. (i think) and i had to look that up! Haha :)
Someone who is a trained professional in the care of a woman during pregnancy, labour and then after the birth
Sorry to butt in, but I have a quick question.., What's a midwife? I've never heard of them except on this app... Is that what you call your doctor? Lol sorry Ftm... Tia!
In nz where im from, having a midwife is the most common thing. You get the choice of either having a free midwife or paying for a specialist LMC. I love having a midwife! She takes the time to talk me through everything and always answers any questions I may have
I love the midwives we have here. If all still goes well im giving birth in a midwife led unit in the hospital! Id love to have a doula but they seem very few and far between and very expensive!
