OPK Positive = Pregnant?

So my period is either due today or tomorrow (12DPO). I have been trying to hold out buying HPT's but this morning it was driving me crazy. I have left over Digital Clear Blue Easy Ovulation tests left so I took one and it came up positive (smiley face). I took the stick out and my test line was really dark. I know now I should just go get a HPT but I was wondering has anyone else ever heard of this or tried this and found out they were pregnant? From what I read just a minute ago supposedly an HPT would have shown positive before the OPK. Any advice would be great and please no one think I am stupid. Just silly and desperate hehe

An OPK can turn positive with the pregnancy hormone... HOWEVER they do not become positive before the pregnancy test.

An ovulation test has a specific sensitivity threshold.  It can't be above or below this certain range or the tests would be junk.
A pregnancy test has a less specific threshold.  It can be super sensitive or barely sensitive at all and still work (most brand name tests are more sensitive).

The problem with using OPKs as pregnancy tests is that you can't be sure which hormone its picking up.  LH, the ovulation hormone, can fluctuate like crazy and make you look pregnant when you're not.

If you think you're pregnant go pick up a pregnancy test (Clear Blue Easy Digital is sensitive and easy to use).
