OT: My idiot car company is putting the screws to us!

ugh... Ok so we have a car that we've been paying on for 4 yrs. On 2 occasions we had to get an extension of a month on our loan due to hard times... This is a 99 chevy malibu with %30 INTEREST.

we were 18 at the time of the contract and it's amazing we kept up with the payments since it was $200 every 2 weeks.

Anywayse they call us today to tell us that our loan matured 2 months ago (they never told us in advance or my hubby would've just made double payments for 2 months)....and that we now owe the remainder of the loan,

$1200 by the end of the month on the 31st. They WONT work with us.. I know it's because they've gotten all the other $18000 or so that now they don't give a d*mn over 1200 and would rather give us h*ll and get our credit more messed up.

So we are going to have to scrape around for a few weeks to get the money, meaning other bills can wait. We DO have the ability to get the money... it's just we for once in our lives hadn't had to live paycheck to paycheck for the last 5 months and it's going to be a change....At least DH got his promotion a week ago (few days actually) and it takes effect in a week.... so his checks will be going up by $300 or so every 2 weeks! YAY!

If you google them and the words rip off or fraud you will find so many stories like that.

I'm glad to hear that your in a good position anyways and can afford to deal with all this!

NicMom~ yes, they are rediculous! I'm reporting them to "Consumer credit report.com" I think it's called. I'm also going to inform them that I'm going to tell everyone I know that they aren't a good company, also that they are inept. if they say anything about slander I'm going to tell them it's the TRUTH.

I'm just very happy we can afford it (barely).. It just goes to show how ready we are financially for baby #2

That stinks! Same finance company different problem. I bought a car right after my divorce with horrible credit and then paid every payment on time for 3 years. With only 4 payments left they repo'ed my car when the payment was 10 days late! Then they wanted like $1500 to give the car back.

What a bunch of crooks. It will all work out one way or another so don't stress too much.

true... .and we will, We are still going to the movies tomorrow, matinee and ONLY movie tickets, no extra frills.. lol, but other than that... our anniversary is coming up in 2 mo. so we are going to do something special I'm sure.

Everyone - - the banks, car dealers, credit card companies - - - have become such jerks through this recession.  They raise rates when your payment is 1 DAY late, they charge ridiculous fees for being late and they have NO sympathy or understanding or willingness to work with people.  I hate them all.

On the upside, once this is paid, it is OVER and you will have that much more money at your discretion.  Congrats on getting it paid off and take some of that extra $$ and treat yourselves to something - - - it's probably been awhile.
