OT- Question about Brayden.. I need advice

Hey ladies. My grandma is having lung surgery here in Florida so we are here form Cali to help out. The past 3 days Brayden (who is now 8 1/2 months old.. gosh the time goes by so fast) has been making like a gasping noise. Its hard to explain. Its like the noise you make when you are excited. He has also been coughing. Like when i play peek a boo with him I will make this noise liek im surprised. I dont know if there is something wrong or if he just found a new noise. We are here visiting for 2 weeks and I cant take him to the doc because he is on Medi-Cal I can only take him to the Er but i dont want to do that for just a new noise he learned to make... what do you think? Should I take him to the ER? have any of you experienced this? What should I do?

My granddaughter has found that exact same noise (she is 10 months old).  It's like they draw in air and make a growling type noise - - - well, not exactly growling, but it's a low toned "noise".  She also went through a period of coughing, without a cold.

I think they like noises, especially when we react and laugh when they do it.  But if you feel that he is not getting adequate air, please be sure to get him seen by a doctor.

my son started making gasping noises and coughing, a few days later he was wheezing and i took him to the doc. and he was diagnosed with asthma...... not trying to scare you or anything but just keep a close eye on him...it could be just a change in the environment!!!!!
