OT : Serious question about my 5 year old...

Ok, So I haven't been online because I've been out of town for the past week.. But over the past 3 day's my son Cobra who is 5, has developed some blister's on his tongue, and his tongue is white... It's not THRUSH because his whole mouth would be white, and it's not.. It's just his tongue..... What could this be ? He hasn't burned his tongue, he has this foul smell comoing out of it and he's in so much pain that he can't eat.. And hasn't really eaten good in 3 days.. Does anyone know what this could be ?

No, he's not running a fever.... I took him to the ER today, and they told me he has herpes of the mouth.... .And that he will probably have he virus for the rest of his life.. They gave me a special "magic mouthwash" that has mylanta, Benedryl, and some medication in it to help his pain... He's supposed to swish it and then spit it out, but he still can't eat.. He say's it hurts too much... I feel so bad for him.....

My first thought is coxsackie virus (hand foot and mouth disease)  my youngest two went throught this recently.  They had the blisteres (though they had some on the outside of the mouth as well) along with the FOUL smelling breath and pain where they refused to eat.  It presents very similiar to strep throat.  Has he been running a fever?

It could be a form of herpes, as it can effect the inside and outside of the mouth. It can also develop on other parts of your body, eyes, nose, and even on arms and legs. Id have the blisters tested even maybe a biopsy, just to make sure it isnt contagious.
