Off topic, but need some opinions please =)

So, this week my 3 month old son has been acting a little different.  Sleeping much more, has this sort of tired look to him... and yesterday was fussy for about 3 hours strait sort of inconsolable.  He has no fever, he is congested but it's better after I clear his nose out (white boogers not green or yellow), and I am noticing a little more earwax than normal (I don't clean the inside of the ear just the outside and that is where I am noticing it).  He is drooling like crazy and eating his hands/blanket/my hand and whatever he can.  To me it sounds like he is teething?  He is only 3 months old (15 weeks tomororw).  Does it sound like it could be an ear infection with no fever?  I am concerned because him and I are going on a trip tomorrow to see my mom.... she lives out of state it's a 9 hour drive.  I don't want to be that far away from his doc so I am thinking of getting him checked out today before we go.  He has seemed better today so far, but we are only 3 hours into our day... gave him some tylenol last night before bed.  So, do you guys think cold/ear infection or just your typical teething?

Thanks everyone now I think it is for sure teething after hearing all of your comments, but his doc is checking him out this afternoon just to make sure we have peace of mind for our trip.

Both of my little guys started teething when they were 2 months old....and didn't cut their first tooth until they were 6 months old....and both of them had stuffy noses the first couple of times they started teething, too.

If you're really worried, I'd take him to be seen, but it does sound like teething to me, perhaps combined with his 3 month growth spurt.

I just read yesterday that symptoms and signs of teething can start 1-2 months before the actual process of "cutting" begins...and my son is showing the same signs. he's fussy occasionally without any apparent reason, drools a lot more than usual, is constantly jamming anything he can grab into his mouth...but has no other problems. no cold, no ear infection, etc.

so yes i would say it could be the first signs of teething. i know that with kahlan trying to soothe her was a bear because she wasn't very good at grasping things until closer to 5 months....so we had to hold everything for her to chew on. (she was WAY ahead verbally but it took her a bit to get the manual dexterity and motor skills...she wasn't slow, but you know what I mean? LOL...one before the other)...but Grey on the other hand can see something he wants, grab it, and hold it in his mouth....so hopefully this teether is going to be a bit easier. I remember lying next to Kahlan holding an ice cube wrapped in a washcloth at 2 in the morning one night waiting for her tylenol to kick in and just crying while she cried because I was so tired...lol.

I definitely agree with Sun though...I think it's teething but it's always better safe than sorry and if you're leaving town you definitely would want to know before you leave! SO I would see the doc before you go if you decide to.

I'd say maybe teething BUT since you are leaving town better to see the dr now. If you take him to be seen it will be nothing but if you wait he will be sick and need to be seen but 9 hrs away from his dr ;)
