Ovulating pain?? How long does it last

Well I think I am getting ready to ovulate.  This morning I woke up with a small sharp pain near/in my right ovary and very aroused... haha.  It seems to come and go, but it gets worse when I sit down.  My left ovary gets a little bit of pain but not nearly like my right one.  I was feeling/looking around my ovaries and it I pushed on my right one, only to end up with that same small sharp pain.  Does this sound like ovulation pains?  How long do ovulation pains last and if I am ovulating within the next few hours, will I miss my time to BD and catch the egg today as I am at work?

Sorry, I have NO idea.. I have never had ovulation pain nor do I even know when I am ovulating except to guess approx. 14 days post period.. That is assuming I have normal cycles, which I don't and never have.. I am useless with this one.. Sorry! Are you ttc? Do you use OPK's?

Thanks for your reply!  Yes we are trying to conceive but I am not using OPK's....  I think I am on the verge of ovulating as my CM is very stretchy and I am still having those pains every so often....

Just a quick note... you ovulate b/w 12 -16 days before your next period not 14 days after your last period.  After talking to the ladies on here (who have been very helpful) I have learned a ton about signs/symptons regarding ovulation.  Taking Charge of your Fertility book is also fantastic to read when ttc, it helps point out the most common ways to determine if/when you are ovulating.

Thanks. I am currently pregnant (29 weeks) and I was using mulitiple forms of BC and my son was conceived using protection and while I had my period, so clearly I am no help! =)
