Ovulation Strips

I just ordered a 20 pack of ovulation strips, I just stopped using Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, and I'm wondering if I should test next month for my ovulation days, or wait a few months for the BC to completely leave my system? I've never used ovulation strips so I'm a little foggy, I'd also like some advice on WHEN to use them, I know 14 days past the first day of my period, but a time frame?? Thanks in advance!

Your first cycle off will probably be longer than usual because your body hasn't ovulated in awhile (mine coming off was 45 days). I would say wait maybe 3 weeks after the day you stop and have the withdrawal bleeding and start testing (so around cycle day 21 or so). And once you've asserted that you are ovulating for your regular cycles I would test between days 13 and 20 unless you get a positive before day 22. If you haven't then keep testing! Not everyone has a 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14 and a 14 day luteal phase.

Before I had my son, I always ovulated on day 25 and had an 11 day luteal phase which made a 36 day cycle!

Thank you guys so much, I've never had irregular periods or any problems without birth control, so I shouldn't have any problems ovulating, I hope! Hopefully it's a quick and easy road TTC!

I'd say give it a go as well! :)  I was on BC pills for over a year and I got a positive opk the next month from coming off of them.  If you get a positive opk for a couple of months in a row and haven't became pregnant then I'd ask your dr. for a cycle day 21 progesterone test.  They can confirm with that if you actually ovulated or not.   Best of luck!!  I hope you get your bfp soon!! :D

When I began using OPKs I bought a pack of 20 strips and began testing right after my cycle ended so I could be sure to be aware of when I ovulated. I also used 2 strips a day. Good luck!!
