Baby in my room?!

I'm right over 35 wks, just painted my lil guys room and going to assemble his crib next wknd. Anyways my question is are any of you ladies going to have your newborn in your room for a lil while? I want him sleeping in his crib in my room just for the first month or so, then transfer him in his own.

I'm letting baby sleep in bassinet next to our bed for the first month and maybe more because I'm a little nervous of our 3 yr old daughter sharing her room with the baby. She's very jealous type and I think it will be safer until we move to the mew house then baby can have her own room. I also sleep better if the baby is near me because I have such bad anxiety if she's not near me same for my 3 yr old I'm getting better because I do leave her with a friend who babysits her but even then I can't really enjoy myself unless she's with me. I had a bad experience as a kid. I constantly worry something like it will happen to her.

I had my son in my room for the first 6 months. He was quite the nurser and woke up too much for me to get up that much in the middle of a winter night! It was just easier to lift him up, slip him in bed with me for 15 mins and put him back.

I had my daughter in the Moses basket in my roomfor three months then her cot was in our room until she was seven months now she's eleven months and has been in her own room since then. There are no set rules you do what you feel comfortable with. I loved having her in my room as it gave me peace of mind.. but knew when it was time to put her in her own room. Like I said do what you feel best be it a month or a year :)

Our son was in our room and my bed till he was 7 months old. He moved out when it became clear we were keeping each other up. Before that, it helped a lot having a co-sleeper crib attached to our bed when I was nursing many times at night. I don't think I could have handled 4 or 5 trips to his room in the middle of the night . Much easier to roll over and pop out a boob. :)
I hardly had to wake up and he settled right back into slumberland.
Good luck to you. Remember their are no rules. Just follow your baby's lead and your Mama intuition.

Ya, I'm goig to have to have em in my room for a lil just until I get used to his sleep routines and what not. And he's going to have to get used to his dad snoring, poor guy!! Thanx again ladies!!

I've always had my babies in my room, I figure that they have been close to me for 9 months and then all of a sudden they get plonked into a room by themselves, well its not for me, plus its way easier for feeding as well

I had my daughter in my room till she was 5 months and i finally put her in her room... this time im gonna have the baby in my room again...but just till he/she sleeps thru the night and then the baby can go into the same room as my daughter... i was like you and was paranoid if i couldnt see her something would happen.... honestly i should have put her in her room so much sooner as i was just ruining my own sleep cause i would wake up to any little noise and even just her moving and what not... so when she went inher own room we both slept better!

Every mom is different but me personally I prefer to gave my baby sleep in the room with me so I can hear her n keep a close eye on her so therefore my baby will be sleeping in her bassinet nxt to my bed or now they have a sleeping bassinet that u can put in bed with u to prevent rolling on tge baby

K thanx for the advice, glad I'm not alone. I don't like the baby monitor idea at all, seen to many scary movies, not saying I believe in ghosts or spirits but if I heard something strange I'd be terrified!

Both mine stayed in my room. I had the basinet right by my side of the bed and was able to breast feed very easily this way.   They still both sleep in my room, in two beds next to my side of the bed, they are 4 and 6. Feel free to judge, no skin off my nose:)

I've kept both of mine in the same room for a couple months and plan to with these two too. Makes life a little easier when they're going to be sharing a room with their older brothers so they don't wake up. I was always afraid I wouldn't hear the cries in a separate room

My first was in my room bc it made feeding easier.  This one will be the same.

Both of my girls went in the cot in the nursery right from the first night home, and number three will be the same! I can't sleep with them in my room.

I'll be having my little man in there with me for a while.  I'm careful not to say how long b/c I only kept my daughter with me for 3 weeks.  She made so much noise when she was sleeping that I was waking up at every little sound.  Being a first time mom didn't help.  I felt so bad for "kicking her out".  haha  We'll try again with little man.  But if the same happens, out he goes.  I need all the sleep I can get especially with a 3 year old.
