Noo Hun, that's why i said it doesn't get to the baby the way people think it does. Sometimes the baby comes out withdrawing and sometimes they don't. That's why it's important to taper down 1 1/2 months before your due date. I plan on starting my taper at the end of October because I'm due December 17th that way my little guy doesn't come out addicted. But I've heard people being on Percocet throughout their whole pregnancy and the baby didn't withdrawl. But that's no excuse ya know? Don't take the chance. Because if they withdrawl, the first month of their life they're in the NICU, they give them the drug and then ween them off of it. Us mommys don't want that. :(
All opiates r safe 2 take while pregnant as far as birth defects ect..the problem is that thr baby can b born addicted 2 opiates and have 2 stay in tge hosp 2 help them with drawl....thats terrible..but is much much much more dangerous 2 stoo takin opiates if mom is physically addicted 2 them.cuz that can cause.many problems for.development of baby...or miscarriage...its actually illigal for a dr 2 lower doses or take pregnant women off of opiates they r prescribed in c.a....
Really? I always thought that the Percocet affected them a lot but the only bad outcome was withdrawl at birth
^^ It's not the only safe one... Hydrocodone, Tylenol with codeine and Tramadol are safer to take then Percocet because they aren't as strong. But Percocet isn't bad to take. Narcotics don't get to babies the way people think it does!!
My doctor gave me them for pain during my pregnancy because I had a blood clot. Its the only safe narcotic to take while pregnant. My baby is doing great (:
No problem babe! As I said, don't feel guilty. I'm 29w4d today and I'm still taking pain medication and my boy is perfectly fine! Yesterday I ran out of my Hydrocodone so I'm taking just tramadol and I'm feeling him kick more because tramadol isn't as strong as hydro/oxy. I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 24-27 weeks and I would take almost 10 hydrocodone a day for my pain! & he's still fine! I don't take nearly as much now but still.. If something were to go wrong it would of happend already and you would know. If you need anything just message me hunny! I know exactly how you're feeling ❤️ You're a good mommy already, don't you forget that!
Thank you Kate!! :) I feel a lot more relieved now
I am on Hydrocodone and Tramadol for when I run out of hydrocodone and it's not ready to be filled. I have a pre existing back pain condition.. & even if you were to abuse/not abuse narcotics like this you would still be addicted as your body becomes dependent on it no matter what! I've been on hydrocodone for the past 2 1/2 years and if I don't have any I can't get out of bed, and that's because my body has been so dependent on it for so long it's hard and I wish I was never prescribed them! But what can I do? Live with constant pain or take something that helps me tremendously do the things I need to do? Your baby will be fine! It doesn't get to the baby the way people think it does, and it's normal to feel baby move less when you take the medication because it's a pain killer and pretty much numbs your whole body so you don't feel baby as much or as hard. Nothing you should worry about! & don't let ANYONE bash you or makes you feel guilty for taking a pain killer!!!! A happy pain free mommy makes a happy pain free baby. I've got so much judgement from me taking these medications that it made me feel like a bad mommy, when I know I'm not.. Just remember you have to look out for yourself too! Baby will be ok. I can promise you that.. All these medications are, are Tylenol on steroids as the girl above said. You're doing the right thing by choosing to be pain free, I applaud you for that because in the end it benefits you and baby by being out of pain, less stress on baby!! :)
Yeah you don't have to be abusing them to get addicted and that's not what I was asking. I was asking if it was safe to take while pregnant
if thay are prescribe to you to take on a daily basis and you stop you will have a withdrawal regardless if you abuse it or not thats if you take them for like longer then a month and every day
It just makes me really nervous when I don't feel her move all day.. But thank you everyone :)
Had to get teeth pulled and that what my ob aloud the dentist to give me on my release form. My ex sis n law had kidney stone and was on them and the dr said no amount of pain pills will harm the baby. Idk how true it was but js. I think if u take the only when u need them u should be fine.
They can only get "addicted" if you abuse them or take them without reason to.
I was prescribed them for my migraines. But I haven't filled or taken any of them. I don't want to set my baby up for addiction
It has the same thing tylenol has (acetaminophen)
My dr gave them to me in july n had my daughter September 4 n she was fine..I had gallstones n was in alot of pain..I asked three dr n they all said it was safe..
I just got prescribed percocet because I had to get my appendix out, the doctors said you can take them if you absolutely need them, but people who 'abuse' them while pregnant, the baby can have a withdrawal, they're just tylenol on steroids lol
i was on Percocet for about 2years and then found out that i am pregnant i told my pain office that i was pregnant and thay complitly cut me off and i can get in to see my dr until the 16th i am now going threw withdrawals and am so scared the withdrawing is no joke i feel so sick i dont know what to do and my babys dad is not vary supporting about it at all i cant even talk to him about it cuz we will fight :(
I have been taking them for awhile now I'm 28 weeks and I get worried that something might be wrong she doesn't kick as much as she should..
I took it when I was in the hospital with a kidney infection... stayed in l&d unit at hospital and thats what they gave me for pain.
What was she percribed them for?
My sister in law was actually prescribed them when she was pregnant nobody believed her but she showed us the pill bottle. My niece is completely fine
