Post ovulation spotting - desparate for answers

For the past 2 cycles of TTC, I have started spotting about 5-8 DPO.  When it happened last month, I was sure it must be implantation bleeding, but after spotting for a few days, full blown AF showed up.  Now this cycle, on 8 DPO the spotting has begun again.  It's not enough to even get on my undies, just when I wipe.  But when hubby and I BD'd last night, it did get on him a little too.

This all really has me worried, and I'm convinced that my hubby and I won't be able to conceive on our own because of this.  I've done a ton of research on the internet, and it sounds like even if a woman has normal progesterone levels, her uterine lining can start shedding prematurely, which won't allow for pregnancy.  (For all I know conception IS occurring, but the shedding won't allow a sustainable pregnancy)

I just don't know what to do.  I have found many sites that say getting the prescription Prometrium really helps.  Has anyone heard that?  I'm just frustrated, because I know something is wrong with my cycle that won't allow me to conceive.  And the doctor won't see my until I've hit TTC for a year, but I KNOW something isn't right.

Has anyone else experienced this?
