Pregnancy Acne

I am wondering what, if anything, you ladies use to treat your acne during pregnancy.  I ahve always had a little, but being pregnant is turning me into a giant red zit : )   I know it is normal and I am okay with it, I am just wondering what is okay and what is not.  I have read a lot of conflicting information. I currently have Proactiv Solution, which is benzoyl peroxide. Some things I read say that i okay, some things say to use nothing at all.  I know that whatever goe on my skin gets to the baby, so I want to be completly safe. Is there maybe some natural approach that someone has taken that worked, even a little?    Thank you for any advice!!!

I use Spectro Gel and have awesome skin. I use to have break outs all the time , especially during pregnancy....around my chin!  I've used it since I was 16 weeks pregnant and now I'm 35 weeks.
You can get it anywhere... it's a little expensize, but worth every penny.  It doen't have any harsh chemicals or anything in it!
It works for me.

Have any of you tried any Tea Tree Items - It's usually sold at a body store at the mall. I can't think of the name of the store, Maybe The Body Shop...?

I too suffer from bad skin during pregnancy, thank god as i am now in the second tri it is getting a lot better, but for the first 12 weeks it was pretty horrible and quite embarrising.  I would just say drink lots of water, use an oil free, light moisturiser and try to wash your face twice a day.  I don't work (stay at home mum) so i can get away with wearing no or little make up as that tended to make it worse. I too have read conflicting things about proactive solution and the like - i guess you could email the company and ask your ob or just stay of the safe side and try and ride it out - good luck, i know it *****.

Same here! I treat my skin sooo good! I wash it twice a day, always keep it hydrated, if I wear makeup, its that kind that replenishes your skin...and what do I get...ZITS! lol. I know its my hormones but I'm just not used to it, thats all. I'm definitely going to ask my doctor if there's anything she can perscribe!

I talked to my midwife and she said she hasn't heard anything too bad about using Proactive (a friend of mine used it and had no problems) However my midwife prescribed Clyndimycin 1% gel for my acne. She said to try this first and so far it has worked well. If you have an allergy to the antibiotic you can't use it (obviously) But maybe ask your doc and see what they think.
