IVF

Me and my wife did our first IVF transfer on April 21, 2011. On May 12, 2011 we found out that she was pregnant, her HCG levels started off low at 7 then continued to rise after. The fertility Pacific reproduction center had her to come in on May 24, 2011 for her first Ultrasound which only should sac but no yolk or the sound of the baby heart, which they calculated for her to be 6 weeks. The doctor then told us that baby might have stop growing and to come back in for a second U/C on June 3, 2011. We took upon our self to head down to ER on May 28, 2010 to get a Ultrasound and still no yolk sac which they told us it might still be to early and her Hcg level was at 20,000 +. My wife at this time tells me she does not feel any pregnant symptoms. Can anybody tell me if this is a failure or if it might be to early still?

Thanks

If she is 6 weeks and not having any serious bleeding or cramping then really it is too early to be positive. A heartbeat is not always detected at 6 weeks or a fetal pole for that matter. I have heard stories on here where women did not have a heartbeat until the 8 or 9 week. At this point your Dr. will continue to monitor her weekly I would guess and take measurments of the sac and look not only for the heartbeat but also to see normal growth, so really all you can do at this point is wait. I know you want to know right now but only time will tell. Good luck!!

Last week she had some brown spotting and cramping but it went away and never came back. The IVF center and Kaiser used a Transvaginal ultrasound

I think it's too early to show the yolk.

Ultrasounds usually don't pick that up till at least 8-9 weeks, depending on the machine the hospital has.

Is your wife experiencing spotting, bleeding, blood clots etc?
