on my first baby it did nothing for me,still went a further 2 weeks.. on the rest i did go within 2 days. my last baby,by the time i got home from the hospital i had to go back and delivered 2 hours after getting it.. i think you should make use of it and go on a little walk, could realy help you along
Mine didnt' necessarily hurt but it wasn't exactly comfortable. I had mine on Thursday, on Monday morning I woke with a slow amniotic leak, though L & D originally said it was urine...my son was born at 6:20 pm, not quite 2 1/2 hours after I got to L & D the second time.
Oooohhh I really hope this is it, tarajanes!!!
Yeah my dr said "uncomfortable too" ....pfft. nice understatement.
good luck...keep walking LOL
They do it to give baby a helping hand, and they think big baby so want me to go in as soon as..well now my braxton hicks are stronger, and im brown spotting, hopefully its working.need the real thing..
Yeah doctor said wont lie its going to be uncomfortable.wow that aint word for it...
keep fingers crossed for me girls...
well when you stretch the cervix and separate the membranes from it, the baby's weight and the pressure that it's head is putting down there generally causes the water to break....which causes contractions and cervical dilation... and the membranes naturally separate before dilation anyway so it can cause dilation and contractions without the water breaking first as well.
I've heard several women say it didn't hurt them, but I was crawling the walls and hollering when they did it to me, and I have a high pain tolerance, lol, but it was a pain I definitely wasn't prepared for.
oh wow that sounds horrible why do they do that?
it's where the doctor reaches in and manually stretches the cervix and uses his hand in a sweeping motion to loosen the membranes....it's supposed to help the waters break and induce labor naturally by weakening them to the point where the baby's position and weight will do the rest...IMO it was very painful and didn't work, but it works for some people :).
What's a stretch and sweep? LOL
whats a strech and sweap?
It hurt a little when I had it with my first pregnancy. I was in labor 3 hours after the dr did it! I delivered my baby exactly 2 weeks late!
Oh god I sure hope I dont have wait another couple weeks,my son was overdue by 2 weeks.gosh 40 weeks is long enough. The doctor done my head in really he was like i be as gentle as possible,im like just do it.no pain no gain i suppose.been trying get hubby do buisness since he put me this way,but he to scared to come near me.weirdo..lol..thanks girls, will keep you posted.going run up and down stairs few times see if can get things moving.
My sister had it done and was in labor with in 2days....But your right it doesnt work for everyone....I SURE hope it works for you! Keep us posted!!!
Yeah it hurts like heck...I had it done at like 38wks and didn't go into labor until 40wks...so it definitely didn't work for me...but I know that some women said it worked for them so I hope they can help you lol.
