Hey I live in NC too when I went to DSS I was told that if you bring proof of your pregnancy and due date that women with child are always excepted. The only part that ***** is they have a full 45 business day to get back to you it take for ever I still have not got my letter yet. I also applied for food stamps I was awarded in February and didn't get my card until May. Even though it may take time i would give it a try. Bring everything at ibce so you don't have to keep going be k and forth. They want a copy of your lease, a month worth of pay stubs, and the proof of pregnancy and due date from a doctor. I wish you luck. Last thing promised get there early they open at 8 and being there at that time will save you a 2-3 hour wait in a line! :)
My dad had insurance on me with his job and I didn't know cause we aren't that close but I signed up for prenatal Medicaid and was approved but the doctors office would always use my dads insurance first. I also live in NC.
I was told to go to DSS and apply so I guess it's worth a shot.
You can go to your health department and apply for medical assistance.. It's free and depending on what carrier you go with you get complete coverage. Hope this helps!
I think its based on income, living status, etc. I would get on the website and apply if I were you.
