Prenatal Vitamins

Does anyone know the difference between over the counter Prenatal Vitamins  (DHA) or prescriptions Prenatal?  I can get the pills over the counter or the one's my dr's nurse recommended at $60 for a months supply.

Thank you everyone! I just wasn't sure as this  is my first pregnancy and a little nervous. I will just stick with my over the counter vitamins.

I use the ones from GNC for $20 a month.  They have a lot of extra stuff, to include an extra pill for calcium and another one for DHA.  I've done all the research and DHA is really good for the baby.  I didn't use the ones the doctor prescribed me at first because the iron was too high and I was already sick enough.  He told me to take Flinstones.  Once I got off the Flinstones, I went with the GNC ones.  I told him about it and he actually recommended I stayed with them.

Oh yeah I had to use those with my first as I was so sick. As long as you are getting the vitamins you are good to go!

Walmart has ones that you get with a perscription that are I think $4 a month only. You have to specify this to your OB and Walmart when you giv ethem the perscription though.

I have been on 4 different kinds this pregnancy. The GNC has higher doses of things then the regular perscription but you had to take two instead of one. I am now on over the counter Enfimil ones with DHA in them and love them!!!!! The are gel capsles so they have no strong odor to them and I do not get nasuase from them at all. THis is the first one I have not got sick from. I used to have to take mine at night becasue of getting sick but now I can taek them whenever.

I do know and checked on this but my OB said that the FDA insures that all prenatals over the counter and perscription ones have certian things in them and ammounts. SO yes some have more and extra B helps with sickness and some have iron and some don't but they are all pretty much the same. So I by over the counter ones now as they are the same as what my insurance pays $10 a month.

Hope this is what you where looking for.
