Postpartum Issues.

I'm about 6 weeks away from my scheduled c-section.
And I'm starting to remember the things I went through after I had my daughter last time and am getting "not so excited" anymore.

I remember for like a week or so straight after I had my daughter I had cold sweats like CRAZY.
It was like I was having withdrawls from heroine or something!
I would sweat and wake up SOAKED but I was FREEZING.
Hubby would have the change the sheets, sprinkle baby powder on the matress where I slept, and flip the mattress over every day.
We just got a new mattress a couple months ago, and I don't wanna ruin this one.
Not to mention we can't flip this one over cuz it's not double sided.
Is that SUPPOZED to happen everytime you have a baby, sweating like that??

I was also talking to my MIL and she was telling me different stuff that happened for the first like 2 weeks I was home.
I don't remember hardly ANYTHING the first 2 weeks of Ivy's life.
They gave me these oval yellow pills after my c-section that I hadda take every 6 hours and I hadda take it atleast 10 minutes before I was due for another one because if I didn't, the minute I was due for my next dose, I would be in crippling pain that felt like someone was holding a whelder's torch up to my stomach.
But those pills had me outta this WORLD.
lol
I was addicted to them very quickly and would have to take more than the reccomended dose of tylonal pm to help after I ran outta them.
My MIL said they made me a different person and hubby would go to her in tears because I was being such a b*tch!!
LOL

What a puss!
lolol

Anyways, is that the only kind of pain med they give you after you have a c-section, or is there something else I can ask for that works just as good without the side effects of a coke-head??
I forget what the pill is called but it was oval and yellow and it knocked me on my a$$!

I just don't want to be in that state of mind cuz my mother's gunna be coming all the way from Massachusetts to stay 10 days with me, and I want to enjoy you visit.
But I also can't bare to deal with that kinda pain again.

It sounds like you were on either a form of vicoden or norco (norco is a pretty bright yellow oval/oblong shaped pill). it's what I take currently for back pain when my dr's aren't being lazy w/calling in the prescription (i'm monitored... of course) Norco is strong, 10mg hydrocodone and 350 tylenol.. I take 2 at a time (prescribed dose)

Motrin didn't do **** for me. bleh and I was up so much going to NICU that they had to give me 2 shots of demerol to bring my pain level down.

i'd suggest a low dose vicoden if it doesn't make you throw up, it likely won't make you whack out.

after my c-section i alternated percocet and motrin. i did not feel any weied effects, and both are safe for bf'ing. the motrin was actually more effective, but i did need extra pain relief between doses so i took the percocet too.
i would ask your ob what you were prescribed and discuss it with him.

as for the sweating... i noticed that too, although mine lasted a few weeks. i think it's hormonal shifts. you may want to purchase a waterproof mattress pad to protect your mattress.

i've heard ppl say the 2nd c-sec was easier. i found recovery to be more painful, but didn't last as long. just be sure to alternate meds and don't miss doses. good luck.
