I had the Mirena in for about 17 months. I also liked it while I was on it and did not have a period. I had it removed in dec 09 because DH and I wanted to try for another baby. My periods were a little irregular but only by a day or two. It took me 7 months to conceive after having it removed. After I have this next one I will probably not have it put back in. However when we do decide that we are finished having children I will be using the Mirena as an alternative to having my tubes tied...just in case =o)
I had the mirena for three years. I liked it while I was on it. My cycle went away which was very nice actually. The downside was that I gained weight while on it. About 15lbs that I couldn't shake. Plus...it is hormonal so when I had it removed my cycles were very irregular for a while. It took me 10 months to conceive after having it removed. That isn't completely abnormal but i believe It would have happened quicker without the hormones in my body. Having it put in was painful but having it removed was a cinch. I'm not planing to get another one. I have decided to look into hormone free alternatives.
