It was hard to keep him up, and I have to admit he already was a sleeper from the beginning, and slept decently at night. The first couple weeks I actually had to wake him up during the day to feed him, and he'd be up at night until I started to keep him up. I'd wake him up around 7 at night and just played with him, made faces, talked to him, showed him toys, lights, things that made sounds...the older he got the easier it was to keep him up, and the harder it got to get him to go to sleep. If he wasn't ready, no matter how tired he looked, he wasn't going to sleep. But it was cute when he was ready, he'd take his binki, lay his head on my shoulder and fall asleep. It's tough the first few weeks, but you'll both get the hang of it. He'll get used to this new world, and you'll get used to this new baby.
yeah he for sure has his nights and days mixed up. how do you keep him awake during the day, When he sleeps he is OUT! Its rediculous how hard he sleeps!
Sounds like Jamin has his days and nights mixed up. When I had my son I would keep him awake towards the end of the day unitl about 1030-11, and he'd sleep all night until about 430-5, have a bottle and go back to sleep for a while, then wake up for a while and take a few naps throughout the day. It didn't bother me that he would go about six hours without eating, he was gaining weight, and I felt that if he was hungry he'd wake up and eat. It takes a while for them to get a semi-schedule going, keep your head up, hopefully it won't take too long.
