Someone help me

So if I go into labor and let's say 4 hours into labor I get the epidural and let's say labor lasts like 18 hours, will the epidural last that long? I'm scared if I get it too early it'll wear our but I'm a huge baby crier when it comes to pain?? Someone help.

Don't listen to the first commment, I wasn't dialated at all & got the epidural. The epidural worked good up until I had to push. There's a button u press to give u more epidural. The nurses wouldn't let me press it anymore so I think that's why I felt everything.

Honestly, it all happens so sudden that i didnt get an epidural until i was 7 cm. I was in labor for 24 hrs. Just hold off for as long as you can, it lasts trust me. You cant feel anything for a few hours after also.

Most hospitals want you to be 4 cm dilated before you get one. They are on a drop system so you should be fine, I was a pleasure to push a button that added more to my iv. I also had to get stuck the next day though because the needle moved and stopped working.
