Tummy hair

I'm 37+4 and my tummy hair has gotten awful with pregnancy. Its blonde but I still hate it. I know they say not to shave it but can I just shave it? What's the cons? I know I don't have much longer to wait but its driving me insane. I hate hair anywhere other than my head eyebrows and lashes.
