Thanks!!! Those all sound very helpful!!
Drink lots of water and be sure to take breaks away from the smoke. It is very irritating and causes a dry throat among other things. My parents used to smoke in the house and I would get sick every time I visited them. now, they smoke outside and wouldn't you know it - I don't get ill when I visit!
Lots of water and fresh air should help. the vaporizer is a great idea too. maybe try sucking on hard candy so your throat is always having mositure on it. Gum can help produce more saliva too.
For your nose, try using Afrin with moistureizer. Some people even say to use a bit of petroleum jelly on your nose to help with dryness, but not sure if that would help with the smoke drying out your nose. Try hanging out in the shower a bit longer to help the steam moistureize your nose.
with the itchiness & nose bleeds it sounds like you are very dry too..... Try a cool mist vaporizer in your room at night, or a humidifier by your bed. it really helped me. Cigarette smoke REALLY bothered me in early pregnancy too.
as far as medicines.... these are in the list from MY OBGYN
cepacol throat lozenges ( they are horrible at numbing & make it feel like there is a hairball in your throat, but they do provide some gentle relief)
chloraseptic
guaifenesin
sucrets
robitussin ( there are a zillion kinds. the sheet just says robitussin. I would call a pharamisist.)
regular benadryl
tylenol sinus
ocean mist nasal spray
sudafed
triaminic dm
no medication is 100% safe in pregnancy. your baby is most vunerable in the first trimester. medications should be taken only when you are just miserable. If you develop a fever, it is very important to see a doctor & tell them you are pregnant.
If i were you.... I recommend just trying the lozenges & a vaporizer first. I got really sick in early pregnancy too... I ended up taking robitussin, but I took smaller doses than recommended & just took it twice a day ( before bed & after getting up)
good luck & feel better soon!
