cocacolapanda That's a really good idea... We will discuss that thanx!
I'm not a fan of scans unless they are totally necessary. I do understand the curiosity.
I just loved the 3D/4D scan we had at 20 weeks. If you pay to get them done you get them done typically when your at least 30 weeks so you can see the baby better. It was so amazing for me that I started to cry for part of it. We got a few short video of the baby moving and some amazing shots. If I had a chance I would get another one before I deliver but we just don't have the money for it.
DH was a little freaked out by it at first, but there were parts he thought were pretty cool.
An idea for you, if BD really wants one and you don't, then why not just wear a blind fold during it that way BD can see it and you can have the images/video to look at after you see the baby so you still get your surprise.
I'm with ur OH. But my DB really wants one...
I want one but only if we cant find out the sex on Thursday. But OH said no they are a waste of money and will spoil the suprise when the baby pops out. If 3D scans were meant to happen. The hospital would book you in for a free one if you wanted one like the DS test?? Not the best example LOL..
I loved ours. It is a surprise, no matter if you see the baby's face early (by ultrasound) or later (when he or she is born) and it is really delightful to see it as early as the ultrasounds show it. My baby looked sort of like he did in his ultrasounds, they are not exact, so even then it's a surprise when you finally see the baby in the flesh. We would not have gone to one of those commercial places for the u/s though. If the high-risk doc hadn't given us a picture, I would not have gone to the trouble to seek it out in a non-doctor's-office setting.
