I am 12 weeks now and am from CT. We are moving to FL in 2 months. I applied for medicade in ct for the 2 months I have been here and have been going to the doctors because medicade will act retroactively and cover all my past vists. Once you get to FL you can apply for medicade (you don't have to live there for a certain amount of time). You should call and ask if FL medicade will also act retroactively so you can go to the doctors as soon as you get to FL, even though you wont have the insurance right away once you get the insurance it will cover all your previous appoinments
Unluckily,my husband is not eligible for tricare. at least not right now (long story). but thanks anyway!!
Apply for state insurance for the time being u can usually do everything over the phone or mail
Since your husband was in the army and he finished his your he qualifies for military insurance. I would call the VA or go to a base close by and check out tricare military insurance. The only requirement to.get on that is for him to have his papers saying he served the country and have a dd2-14 form saying that he was honorably discharged from service. That's what my cousin did when she found out she was expecting and her hubby was in the marines. Hope this helps a little. But in the mean time, I'd apply for medicaid.
I was thinking to apply for Medicaid asap in Florida. We are both unemployed and we want a temporary insurance for now since my husband will have his disability one. thank you all for the advices! I'm from Europe and all this is new for me :) gotta learn
I'd apply for medicaid as soon as you move and start looking for a doc in the area you are moving to now, a lot of doctors take a week or two to get in to anyways.
My first appointment was 13 weeks, my doctor doesnt see patients until 12. Just start taking prenatal vitamins and eat as healthy as you can. We dont have insurance. Call around to different doctors/mudwives and see if they accept self pay patients and what there policy is with it. They charge us as a package, and have you pay after.
It took awhile for my insurance so I had a late start on the appointments. They said it wasn't a big deal and just did everything normally from then on. Just start taking prenatals :)
I had to wait to go to the doctor too, because I moved. I didn't get seen until 13 weeks. As long QA when you get to Florida, you start calling to get medicaid, you'll be fine. In the meantime, drink prenatal vitamins.
Go see your Dr before you move and explain the situation. He will be able to give you advise and tips on what you'll need to know until you can see another Dr. He will also tell you how soon you should see a Dr. It the first trimester, unless you have cramping and bleeding, there's not much they do really. Congrats on your baby :) I know how hard it is since hubby and I tried for 18 months.
thank you so much, I was thinking the same! hopefully, everything will be ok!
My first obgyn appointment wasn't til 15 weeks and everything was fine. You could try finding a free clinic to get a confirmation. That's what I did
Oh, tomorrow I'll be 7 weeks
