Castor oil does not pass the placenta as some think. It will not make baby go poo. The baby's bowels mature at the end of pregnancy and that is what causes baby to go poo while in uterus. Many women have babies that poo and don't take castor oil. It may cause some problems with mom if not taken properly like diarrhea and if you don't stay hydrated then that could be an issue. With any medication you have side effects and natural ones are no exception. I have taken it multiple times and it has worked. I would not even think twice before doing it again if needed. I have done tons of research on verified data and spoke to many drs and midwives on the topic. You find lots of scary stuff online but you need to make sure it is true and verifiable. I am sure all the women who did not take any castor oil and had babies die due to swallowing fecal matter will love to know that castor oil causes it.
I think we're all agreed that the OP's statement about castor oil's potential danger if taken without first consulting your doctor. This is not a debate, nor a personal judgment of anyone who's used castor oil in the past. This thread could provide valuable information for those who are unaware of castor oil's potential dangers. It's also good to remember that "natural" does not necessarily mean "safe".
Let's keep the discussion civil, and as with anything else, please be sure to talk with your doctor before taking anything.

everyone just needs to calm down and say thanks to this lovely lady for sharing this information, she didn't post it for a debate or to cause an argument, she wanted to share some very helpful information which im very glad i read, can't we all just say thanks rather than going on about how it worked for one or pineapples.
I wasn't aware of the negative effects of castor oil, so thank you for the post. I was always against it because who wants to have diarrhea while in labor? Yuck! Lol
