No its not ok because the ink goes in your blood stream no matter how clean and sterile the tattoo artist is. The ink goes into your blood stream and your blood is going to your baby. Any good tattoo artist that knew you where pregnant wouldn't tattoo you for that very reason.

You can't get them while you're pregnant, but you can while breastfeeding. The ink molecules are too large to get into the breast milk, so no harm to baby :) but again hormones can cause changes in the ink so if you want to be extra safe, waiting is good too.

Not safe, plus if you get one your hormones can make the ink bleed and the tattoo can look ugly after

Well thanks ladies I just wanted some advice on it! I've heard its safe at times and in most cases its not I was just wondering since there is going to be a Tattoo Expo in Chicago in June and was thinking on getting a couple. But not going to risk it I'm only 14wks pregnant and I want my baby to be healthy by all means.

I tried to get one with my first pregnancy, had no idea it wasn't good for the baby (I was 17, lol) the tattoo artist refused saying it could hurt the baby if it got infected and he wouldn't risk it. So I had to wait until after delivery and breast feeding to get one, I want another one now though so I'm pumped to get one in a couple months here when I'm not prego lol :)

If it is a legitimate tattoo shop they won't tattoo you if you're pregnant. That doesn't mean get one from someone you know who would do it,who isnt in a shop. That isnt the best idea either.

I read if its a clean and safe environment and all equipment is taken out and new in front of you its okay

but most places I believe say its highly unrecommended.

No its not safe. The ink can get into the babys bloodstream. Better to wait and if your breastfeeding you have to wait longer
