Trying to conceive again after miscarriage

Hi All

I came on here last year whilst trying to conceive our first baby and we did eventually get pregnant, we were so excited but unfortunately I miscarried at nearly 8 weeks early Jan 2010. I have had my first period since the miscarriage and I think I feel ready to try again :-)

My question is, has anyone who has had a miscarriage returned their previous ovulation cycle? I mean I always had a perfect 28 day cycle and always ovulated on day 13 or day 14. I wondered what would be my chances of returning to my reliable cycle?!!  Thanks!!

Just to warn you, until all of the hormone from the miscarriage is out of your system ovulation kits will not be accurate.  Most places suggest waiting for AF before using them.

Thanks for your reply and congratulations on becoming pregnant! When we were trying last year, I used some ovulation sticks I bought off the internet for the last month we were trying and got our bfp so I've ordered some more to try this time. I had a pretty good idea when I was to ovulate but the ovulation sticks were like double confirmation and we 'got together' lol! Thanks for the advice with the cramps, I always thought that the cramps came before ovulation so that's some great advice thanks :-)

It can take a little while.  For me, once I stopped bleeding after the D&C I took the last week of bleeding as day 1 and had a "normal" cycle.  Then my next cycle was actually a little longer (although I'm about 90% sure it was due to stress).  I felt ovulation cramps then a few days later I felt them again, I'm not sure what happened, but others said stress could have stopped me from ovulating.  By the way, we got pregnant that cycle, and I'll find out on Wednesday how close I was.

For some women it'll happen right away, and other's it won't.  Do you do anything to detect when you ovulate?  I'd suggest track using the ovulation tracker on here, and two big things to look for are EWCM and ovulation cramps.  Most women get EWCM, and some women get ovulation cramps.  Ovulation cramps happen on the day you ovulate and last for up to 24 hours.  They are also on just one side, the side you ovulate on.  It typically switches each month.

Good luck!  and I"m sorry for your loss :(
