Alimentum is disgusting! It smells awful! Gross
Hey! I'm glad to hear that he seems to be feeling better! I would be very careful with adding the rice cereal. Babies with MSPI can have a difficult time with rice (especially at such a young age). You might find it causes constipation and more discomfort in the long run. If his REFLUX is being properly treated, it's not a big deal for him to spit up. Yes, it's a mess and not fun to deal with...but like I said, the rice cereal probably won't be easy for him to digest and then you'll be back with a fussy baby again!
Also remember that zantac is VERY weight sensitive. As soon as he grows just the slightest bit, you'll need to keep adjusting the dose. If you find that the zantac isn't providing complete or total relief...remember there are other, more effective, meds to try. (PPI medications like prevacid solutabs, or zegerid). We were put on zantac initially with my daughter and when it DIDN'T work...I didn't realize we had other options! She remained miserable for another several weeks because I thought I was out of options!
Good luck and thanks for the update!
PS - Isn't alimentum SOOOOO stinky!!??! Blegh! :)
Wow a tsp for EVERY ounce? And I got responses on here saying that I should not add cereal at all to keep it down, when all I add is a tsp-tbsp at most to a 5 ounce bottle! It is really a bummer he is having so many problems, poor little guy! But atleast he's feeling better somewhat. I'll bet you'll have everything sorted out soon, and he'll be thanking you! Riley has very similar issues, but not nearly as severe. I need a good Dr. for Riley... But I believe he has either a milk protein allergy or lactose intolerance, as well. So I know what you're going through, as he was just AWFUL the first 6 weeks, screaming that way, for hours.. And trying for hours to poo, as well!
