Vaginal Delivery, after Having C Section

4 years ago I delivered my son through Cesarean Section, and in November I will be delivering my 2nd child. I know this is something that I have to talk to my doctor about, but how many ladies have or know someone who has had a vaginal birth down the line after delivering through C Section at first? Where there any complications?

Thank you very much! I think i will see how the pregnancy goes and base my decision on that! Its really hard because my baby spent 2 months in special care and it would be horrible if the same happened with my second x

There are maaaany people who has done a vaginal delivery after c section. Now a day c section is soo commen that even some doctores or parent what to do that insted of a regular delevary. We were made to give birth natural. Insist on a regular delevery, and since its 4 years ago ur chances on normal delevery is very hight and good. Mabe U can give birth in the water..less rips.
Hanadi1994 ur doctor can se what will happiend with U in the future. If U get a normal and good pregnancy then why not try for a vaginal delevery? But thats if U dont get the same complications

Sorry you had to go through that :( I had a c section because I wasn't dilating with heavy Contractions for 16 hrs. They told me not to get pregnant for at least a year to be in the safe side. I'm not sure what it's like in your situation since you got pregnant again so soon after. I know people who got prego soon after and had a vbac without complications. It always depends on what the doctors say I guess. If your mid wide gives you the Ok though, and supports you through it, I would give it a try. Hope all goes well for you! Best wishes and God bless♥

I had an emergancy c-section 6 months ago, im 13weeks 4days pregnant my midwife said i could try vbac but my doctor is horrified why she would even suggest it, i had my baby at 31weeks 5days due to eclampsia and 5 weeks later i had a lapraoscopy due to endometritis and my doctor said i will be in the same situation and she wouldnt dare to let me try vbac her sister almost died because of it and she said the best thing is a c-section, i really dont know im worried! Anyone had a baby soon after a c-section?

I had a cesarean with my first and will be doing a vbac this time. ;-) the chance of a rupture is sooo small that I would definitely try a vbac. But it depends on the hospital and docs I guess. They make it such a big deal in the us... In Germany they actually encourage you to try a vaginal birth. In your case there are 4 years in between, so as long as everything is running smooth during pregnancy, I see no need to have another c section. :-) stand your ground momma ;-) you can do it!
Btw, my mom had a section with her first, and had 3 successful vaginal births after. So it's all possible. All the best to you!

My bffs mom had her first two children by cesarean bc both were breach about 5 our 6 years later she delivered TWINS VBAC! So yes it is possible depending on the reason you had a cesarean the first time.  Talk to your dr and make sure s/he is pro posted for aVBAC as well that the hospital is equipt to handle an emergency should one arise. Good luck!

My mom had a c section with my sister about 4 to 5 years later she had a vaginal birth with me. She said it hurt hella bad and it felt like her inside were being ripped open. Shes always said giving birth to me was the most painful of all her kids.

I haven't known anyone personally (I'm mostly just trying to bump your question so it gets answered!) but I am admittedly a total geek and I've read a lot about Vbacs. As long as you don't use pitocen or cytotec during your labor, your chance of uterine rupture is barely higher than a vaginal birth only woman.
It really deep depends what caused the c section the first time. If it was because your baby was breech or you were carrying multiples and it's different this time, you should be able to go for it. If you had gd and a huge baby that the doctor preferred to deliver via section, then if you don't have gd you should be fine.
If you had an emergency (true emergency) c section with a vertical incision you shouldn't try for a Vbac. The scarring is a lot more likely to cause a rupture with that sorry of incision versus a 'bikini cut'. You should not be induced or have your labor artificially 'managed' by drugs such as cytotec or pitocen, as both can hugely increase your risk of rupture. You will be able to have an epidural if that's what you choose. They used to not allow it for Vbac moms because they were afraid you wouldn't feel your uterus rupture if it happened. But now they monitor you very closely and it's okay to use pain relief.
With that though, expect limited mobility. They will probably want that monitor on you at all times. And always be prepared for the chance of a repeat cesarean. Good luck! I hope this very long post helps a bit!
