If you do not have a period the same rules will not apply.  I say this because if your cycle s not regular, counting the 14 days may not be helpful.  As Joy Renee suggested, you should start charting your BBT.  You will have to purchase a special thermometer, but it is only like seven bucks.  You can find a Basal Body Thermometer at a store like Target or Wal-Mart.  You will have to take your temp the same time every morning before you go to the bathroom, talk or do anything.  I keep mines under my pillow and as soon as the alarm goes off, I take my temp.  There is also a wonderful site called fertility friend.  You can input all of the temps and it will let you know if and when you ovulated.  It will also let you know when you are fertile.

Ovulation Predictor Kits are good also, you can start testing  on CD 11.   If using both methods you determine that you are not ovulating, your doctor should be able to give you Provera to start your cycle and Clomid to help you ovulate.

I hope this info is helpful to you.  Let me know if you need any more tips.  Good luck and baby dust to you!!!!!

What do you mean by "counting down"?

You ovulate approximately 14 days before your period. Because you're irregular you won't know when you ovulate unless you use some form to determine when you ovulate. Watch your body, listen to your body. You can check for cervical discharge, you can take your temp (BBT) or use OPKs. Using TWO methods will increase your chances of pinpointing ovulation.

First day of blood flow is cycle day 1 (CD1). The next day is CD2, then CD3, etc. You will not ovulate on CD14 unless you have a typical 28-day cycle. Since you don't and you don't know when to expect your period from cycle to cycle, you'll have to use another means of determining ovulation.

If you're unsure if you even ovulate, you can contact your doctor for a sonogram and some blood tests.
