pet worries

I have a five month old Pitt and he's very hyperactive and I am about 5 weeks along with my first baby. I'm afraid he may be dangerous to me the way he runs and jumps around (and he doesn't really listen to me very well only my boyfriend can get him to act right) and he always wants to lay on my chest and stomach. I was just wondering if anyone else is going through a similar situation and had some advice for me? Comments appreciated.

I have a 9 month old hyperactive pit as well and he gets a little crazy sometimes and jumps on my stomach I am not concerned though because he is an absolute sweetheart when he calms down he is also very gentle with my bfs 2 kids so I'm not concerned about him with the baby.. pit bulls were known as the nanny dog for how protective and gentle they are with kids!

Dogs know, they just do! I was worried the first time my friend brought her new born over. But to my surprise he was awesome. Bout all he did was lick the babys feet/hands, I got worried when he jumped on the couch next to where baby was laying, but he was very gentle and made sure he was stepping over baby. Never once has he made this baby cry. Now he's 8 months and we can put him on the floor to play and my dog will lay next to him. Never bothers him. You'll be surprised how good your dog will be. I know I was and now I'm not worried at all about my dog hurting my baby, he loves babys

I have a lab/Chesapeake bay mix that is now 10 months (I'm 21 weeks) and she has always been SO hyper. She used to jump up but we broke that, now its the listening part (when I open the door, learning to get back and not run out and chase a cat or try to say hi to the neighbors) so I did what I thought id never do. I got a shock collar (the training kind not barking) and have only had to used it twice and within a couple days I have a brand new dog! She is very smart but wouldn't listen to me as well as my darling bf, now she knows that she better listen. I didn't want to have to worry that she would run off out not listen to me and get hit by a car or hurt the baby when he comes (on accident of course... She is far from aggressive!). I would suggest that when you are past your 6mo mark if your pup develops bad habits that would stress you out our could cause harm to get one, then return it. Just don't over use it and keep it on the lowest setting possible that gets his attention!

I've got a 90lbs lab/German Shepard. It is a little over a year and a half and he his sooooo hyper, it worries me that he will get to wild  when my son arrives in November, but we will have to play it by ear, he is like my first child and couldn't imagine getting rid of my pup! No matter how much he drives me insane! You will be fine hun. Just gotta be stern with your dog. He will learn what you do and don't want him to do with repetition.

I have a pitbull and bull terrier and both girls always jumping on me and im 14weeks pregnant. I had to buy one of my girls a leash tht.goes in.the ground to keep her there and.from jumping on me. But I let her loose and she a little calm. It's kinda hard to keep both dog off of me so I had to make my stupid husband go out there and feed them

My pit did the same thing. But he stopped once i hit my 8 week mark.  It's like he knew i was pregnant and wouldn't leave my side and wouldn't let anyone near me. They'll settle down but i wouldn't worry too much. Your baby is well protected and very tough.

There are your best friends while pregnant. They become more affectionate and protective. I wouldn't be concerned if I was you. I have 3 dogs. 1 cat and a Great Dane the size of a pony or bigger! I'm 17 weeks and my pets are my life. At 5 weeks don't worry if he gets on your tummy. But yes. Just as long as he doesn't make it a habit. He's a little big now but can still be trained. I just got another dog yesterday and my baby daddy has all my dogs listen to him.
