Meconium is baby poop a form of discharge that occurs to be a brown/dark green colour. sometimes, babies poop while they're still inside their mom. its also normal a lot of the time. It's a pretty common event when babies are past their due date or under certain stressful circumstances. woman can lose their mucas plug weeks before baby is due so you cant tell by that. so meconium is only detected when you are past your due date or extreme circumstances when baby is stressed. I studied to be a midwife before I got pregnant. my mum is a nurse and specialises in pre/post baby care my specialist doctor also confirmed it. :)
No brown discharge does not mean baby pooped. Idk who told you that but they need to stop giving advice lol. Babies sometimes poop inside its a natural thing. The way to know is if your water is a greenish color when it breaks. If they do it, it can lead to problems if they breathe it in but that doesnt always happen. Ask your dr about it honey.
Please update the information too lol, I'm very curious about it too.
Well thank you so much for your help :) Ima gonna ask the dr for sure lol
Over half the time its after labor and sometimes during labor but I'm not exactly sure how they can tell, that would be a great question to ask your doctor. Maybe by ultrasound or a nonstress test, sorry hun thats all I really know.
How can you tell before labor?? I'm only 37 weeks so would the doctors be able to know before birth?
They can get very sick! And would have to stay in the hospital for 7-10 days for antibiotics and observation. And if they don't catch it in time then there is a very high risk that the baby dies.
That's scary too I thought they only pass when after birth so does that mean they can die in the womb if they inhale it? Being a ftm everything makes you so scared -_-
Honestly I think pregnancy is a beautiful thing but thats just nasty
if u get a brown disharge its the babys poop. it does happen not to everyone.
Ya my aunts baby pooped inside of her....it all just depends i think
As far as I know it that if the baby is in distress during labor then the baby could possibly have a bowl movement I'm not sure how often that is, but yes after the baby is born most babies do have a bowl movement. From what the nurse told me is that the more the baby eats the faster that the sticky, tary poop comes out. If you are a first time mom the poop will be very sticky and black and that is normal.
