Since cutting this wisdom tooth I COMPLETELY sympathize with babies. Oh it hurts so badly. If the gums are red, swollen, etc. then he most likely is teething. Otherwise any number of things could be making him uncomfortable (like it's really stinkin' hot!).
Ivy's been drooling like crazy since she was about 2-3 months old. Some babies just drool more than others.
She just cut her first tooth a few weeks ago and looks like #2 is trying to surface now too.
I got so excited when I saw that first tooth coming in! It was the same excitement I had when hubby n I bought our first car from the dealership! lmao
I've heard some babies cutting teeth as young as 3 months old, and then some babies that never cut a single tooth till their first birthday came and went!
All babies are different, no baby learns to sit, crawl, stand and walk at the same time, and no baby cuts teeth at the same time.
No need to rush them, feel left out, or feel there might be a problem, his time will come soon!

Thanks everyone. I just feel like Jaxson has been experiencing some discomfort, but I don't want to give him tylenol or baby orajel until necessary. I figured I was asking an impossible question, but other Mom's insights are always appreciated, you ladies rock!
Reid has been teething for months already (he's 6 months old) and no signs of a little chicklet popping thru yet! Fun isn't it? LOL
They can teeth on and off for months before actually cutting a tooth. So answering the question was tricky. I answered with the thought of when their first tooth actually cut- and that was around 8-9 months. My kids only had 4 teeth at their first birthdays, whereas I've seen other kids with almost a full set of teeth at their first birthdays.
My son started showing signs at 3 months...and cut his first tooth in his 4th month. He is now 14 months and has 8 teeth, and a possible 9th.
my guys started teeth around 3 1/2 months. brett has 7 teeth and eli has 8 and they're almost 11 months old.
Hunter has been showing signs of teething since about 4months but didnt cut his 1st tooth intill 6m and then the next one at 7m. He is now 11m next thursday and has yet to cut another tooth! But he has done GREAT with the two he has!! lol
i couldn't really answer, because she started showing signs of teething at 5 months, but didn't cut her first tooth until 9 1/2 months. The second took another month, and she didn't get the next 2 until 2 months after that.
I think her teeth just take a really long time. She's been "teething" again- her 2 year molars, for months now, and they aren't cut through yet. It's definitely bothering her- she tells us she has boo-boos in her mouth, sticks her fingers back there, drools, etc... But still nothing. She has even learned to recognize when to ask for medicine to make her all better. Obviously, we only give it to her if she's showing physical signs of teething and discomfort. She also likes to ask for her "pills" (teething tabs). But our current experiences, with her ability to communicate, helps me realize that in retrospect, the poor thing was teething for all those months prior to cutting her teeth as an infant. By the way, both then and now, it wasn't constant. It seems to be more inflamed some days than others.
My son just started teething at 11 months, but he's been drooling like crazy since he was about two months. Within the last two weeks he's had two teeth come through. But you'll know when it's time, his gums will start to swell and get white looking in spots, and before you know it...there'll be little white, SHARP teeth poking through!!! Oh, and the swelling may last a while...Elijah's gums would swell and go back down for about a month and a half before the teeth actually showed up. Baby Orajel and Tylenol will be your best friends!!! Elijah got a fever while he was teething, and was pretty cranky while the teeth were coming through. Enjoy the toothless mouth! When Elijah "gives kisses" he opens his mouth, puts it on yours and bites down, OUCH!!! But it's sweet, even if it hurts!
