I was positive w my first born but not w my second. When labor starts they give an antibiotic through an iv. I'm hoping I'm negative this time as well cause I hate hospitals.

Group B streptococcus (GBS) is a type of bacterial infection that can be found in a pregnant woman’s vagina or rectum. This bacteria is normally found in the vagina and/or rectum of about 25 % of all healthy, adult women.

Those women who test positive for GBS are said to be colonized. A mother can pass GBS to her baby during delivery. GBS is responsible for affecting about 1 in every 2,000 babies in the United States. Not every baby who is born to a mother who tests positive for GBS will become ill.

I had it with pregnancy 2 and 3. It's a normal bacteria that ca be found on people's skin and in some women in gets inside their vagina but since its not harmful it isn't treated.
If you rest positive for group B your will be given IV antibiotics every four hours and they will keep you in the hospital and extra couple of days to test the baby (and frankly I enjoyed the vacation ad extra attention from the nurses.)
Both my babies were perfectly fine eve my so who was 6 weeks early.

I believe they'll start checking for dialation around 37-38 weeks, just bc thats when you'll be closest to going in to labor, unless there are problems or concerns then they'll check ya then I'm sure..

Its to test you for group-b strep which can harm the baby if its in your vaginally when you deliver, does no harm to us women, but is bad for babies

Nope they just swab outside your vagina and butt. It's really fast and easy.
