Successful Pregnancy after an Ectopic Pregnancy?

I recently found out that I had an ectopic pregnancy on 6/10....the day before my wedding :*( and it was probably the worst moment of my life. This was my first pregnancy.  I had made an appointment to get an early ultrasound because I wanted to have a picture of the baby to show everyone at the wedding and that never ended up happening. The ultrasound showed a dark area in my tube and was later confirmed that it was an ectopic pregnancy. Needless to say it was a very emotional day. My doctor was shocked because I wasn't in any pain and was completely fine. He said normally he has people come into his office in horrible discomfort and I didn't have that at all. Luckily enough my tube never ruptured because I was only about 3/4 weeks he said. I was given methotrexate and last friday my hcg level finally went to zero. My doctor said that as soon as I get to zero and get my period that I had the green light to start TTC.  My question is, it has been almost 6 weeks since the shot and I still don't have my period. I know everyone is different but can anyone give me feedback and let me know how long it took for them to get their period? My husband and I are ready to put this past us and try again because we desperately want to become parents more than anything.  Anyone have any positive stories to tell me about have an ectopic pregnancy then later having a successful one? I am trying to stay positive but I am just terrified of this happening again.

i had the shots because i was told the surgery increases the chance because of scar tissue, i was given both options but prefered the needles instead

Heya,

I'm so sorry for your loss, I know how heartbreaking it is. I had my first ectopic 12 months ago and like you caught it early but had it surgically removed...only to have another one 6 months later resulting in losing my right tube (It took a good 8 weeks to get my period again) I was one of the very unlucky ones to have it happen twice but apparently if you've had one your chances of it happening again can be around 30%. The positive thing I guess is you are fertile and can get pregnant. I'm now pregnant again and have found out today that it is in the right place this time and is developing normally. You'll hear it all the time, but you'll get pregnant when you relax about it. It will happen for you :-)

i had an etopic in november 2008 and ended up pregnant with my son in may 2009 but i was also on birth control pills.. becuz i was told to wait 3 month because i was 12 weeks along it was in my tubes and they almost ruptured but i had the same thing as u.. ur period will come back as soon as ur body repairs itself which could be any hour or any day, i went on birth control pills right after , which i think helped mine come back and also helped me get pregnant after the etopic... i know how hard emoitionally an etopic pregnancy is and im sorry u had to go thru that also, it was devistating to me. but best of luck
