Whooping cough, pregnancy, birth and antibiotics harming the baby?

my wife is 40 weeks pregnant, I have been diagnosed with whooping cough, and been taking antibiotics for 8 days now to be safe. My wife is developing a small cough tonight. I have medication here, we have both been tested and results for her will come in two days. My question is, we are worried she will go into labour, and not be able to care for the baby. would it be better for her to start the medication now as a precaution and stop if the tests say she has not got it? Will it harm the baby? Please answer us , we are desparate? Steve and Jen ***@****

Talk to the doctor.  Don't pass around meds prescribed for you, especially to someone who is pregnant.

call your OB or midwife before taking anything.

Also, be sure that all of your family get vaccinated for whooping cough, in case they were exposed. Whooping cough is on the rise, and can be fatal to infants and newborns. It is now recommended that anyone who has close contact with baby get a booster. The baby often gets it from caregivers. This is especially important because clearly, it is going around by you. My OB offered a booster to both me and my husband. Local medical clinics also had them available.

not all meds are safe during pregnancy! Also any meds would need a full round and you should never share meds or take an old one! a cough does not mean she will have it and taking meds without knowing is not a good thing! if she does not have it the baby and her got unnessisary medication! The hospital will expiditie the results if she goes into labor or will deal with it then. happy birthing!
