Here in Missouri WIC is still open and they don't plan on shutting down. You can also still apply for food stamps, Medicaid, and daycare assistance here.
I would call your welfare office. I plan on calling after I have my baby. I still have Wic checks for myself and my 20month old til the end of October. I plan on trying to breastfeed but if all else fails I have about 9 or 10 cans of formula from when I had my first and someone gave me formula they received in the mail from Gerber. All Gerber gentle brands. What you could also do is go onto like similac or enfimil or Gerber websites and sign up. they usually give you free cans of formula and checks for so many dollars off of formula. The hospital where you deliver will more than likely supply you with formula while you're in there. You could probably take left over a home.
I don't think they'll accept food stamp applications right now, idk
Do you know if you can apply for food stamps at this time? most likely after governmwnt shut down huh?
Also ladies. I know some are embarrassed about having food stamps. But hey, if it feeds you and your family do not be ashamed. Food stamps can buy formula and baby food as well.
It's covered by my medical assistance. They said they would see if my daughter needed a new one and if she did, they would also get her one too. I think the company that does that is BabyLove. You'll need to go to a 30 minute safety class first. After the class is when you get the carseat. @arnitia
Depends where you are @davissavannah. Call your wic office and ask. I just did and thankfully we still have wic here.
@stacyal how do you get a free carseat?
So my girlfriend and I are not able to use wic anymore?
What I did that other women should do, is see how soon you can go to a breast feeding class to get your free pump. Of course, this is to the places that are still providing wic. I have my breast feeding class next Friday with another place (still get a free one) and my carseat appointment today where I also get a free carseat. :)
