You have been warned, lol - Toys R Us/Babies R Us return policy

OK, so I just thought I would share this with all the mommies and mommies to be, as we sometimes shop at these stores. So yesterday I went to Babies R Us to return some stuff I had from my baby shower.  I didn't have a receipt, but I was only hoping for store credit to get something else I could use.  When I brought the stuff they told me unless I had a receipt, I could not return or exchange, not even for credit, no exceptions.  I had never heard a policy like this.  Most places I have been to will give you store credit with no receipt, and Target will at least let you do it a few times a year with your drivers license.  So I asked to speak to the manager to ask if she could make an exception..she said no..the part that really ticked me off though, is she told me that unless I could prove that the items were purchased, I cant bring them back...well, to me that insinuates that I stole them.  She also said to try to call the people that had given me the gifts and ask for the receipt.  Can you imagine calling someone up and asking for a receipt because you didn't like their gift? UGH frustrating.  Anyways, I just wanted to make sure that no one else has this problem, as i know sometimes(esp being flustered with young kids) receipt can get lost..and just remember that if you get gifts from these places, to specify to your loved ones that they better give you the gift receipt, lol.

I dont think its just my state, bcause when you call the help line(800 number) they tell you the new policy...I guess babies r us changed it a month ago, because a little over a month ago I went it there with something and didnt have a receipt and had no problem...

Weird that you say this, because Babies R Us let me return without a receipt, but maybe the lady remembered me from a few days back...  Who knows!

Also as I just thought about this, each state/store maybe different.

I am sorry you had to deal with that, maybe re-gift!  I know it sounds horrible, but you know if it can't be returned then why waste it, that's my opinion.  Just to to the person who gave it to you!  Ahaha  that would be horrible lmao
