Hmmm.... spotting and starting to feel like my milk is coming in...

Hey ladies... I usually have longer cycles, but right now I am on cycle day 18.  We had (protected) sex on cycle day 14.  I had some stretchy clear CM on this day, but didn't think much of it, cause my eggwhite CM usually comes around CD 21.  However, yesterday (cycle day 17) I woke up with some spotting.  It was only yesterday a few times and definitely not enough to even wear a liner.  The past few days I have also been feeling like I am getting let down in my boobs...  I am not sure what is going on here - I guess there is a chance I could be prego (as no form of BC is 100% effective).  But I would like to hear your opinion.  Like I said, my cycles are usually 35 days.

Ashelen, I agree - I'm glad that you wrote what you did - I hope that others will find it useful (and I'm glad that I understand it as others see it)!

It is possible that I ovulated earlier than expected.  When my cycles came back after my child was born they were 28 days exactly, but then moved to 35 days.... so it is possible (I just assumed my next one would be 35 days)... but as the saying goes, when you assume, you make and a$$ of U and ME....  I guess only time will tell.

hmm! I don't know then...I get the tingly let-down feeling sometimes when I'm not pregnant too so it may just be a hormonal flux. I definitely didn't mean to sound patronizing but you never know how much experience or knowledge someone has when they're posting and I wanted to make sure and cover all the bases just in case, LOL.

It's certainly possible that you ovulated early..was the only time recently you had sex on cd14?

thanks ladies.

Ashelen:  yeah I know that you ovulate approximately 14 days before your period... that's why I didn't think that I ovulated - because like I said I usually ovulate on CD21.  However I guess it is possible that I will have a shorter cycle this time around.  We used a condom as our form of BC.  I know that milk shouldn't come in this early (as I do have a child), but it sure feels like the same thing.  My boobs aren't getting any bigger, so chances are it is not milk - but it sure is weird.  The only time I have felt that tingly feeling like that is when I had let down.

We are not currently trying to conceive (I wouldn't really care if it happened though :-)).  I had a little bit of a tinge again today.  I have absolutely no idea what is happening, as I never get this tinge.

When I was pregnant with my second, before I even found out I was pregnant, me and DH were messing around and he sucked my boobes (sorry to be detailed) but he said he tasted it... and so thats when I called my dr and they said to test so I did and sure enough I was pregnant! I was only 4 weeks when I found out... and you normally have implantation bleeding around 2 weeks after as well as you can have it a few weeks after too (I had it at 5 weeks too) So... Like Ashelen said, take a test and if it is negative, wait until your missed period and then test again. good luck!

what kind of protection did you use? I don't think you would be "letting down" this early in pregnancy. milk doesn't ACTUALLY start to come in until about the 6/7th month of pregnancy, and while you can "let down" colostrum before the baby is born, you don't actually experience true letdown until the baby is nursing and it physically stimulates the glands to begin releasing the milk (at which point anything can cause you to letdown, even the sight, sound, or smell of a newborn)...you can get the tingly feeling that letdown causes even when you're not pregnant.

Have you tested..? I'm sorry my brain must be fried I just noticed that you said your cycles are about 35 days long. then you have not ovulated yet....it's a myth that all women ovulate 14 days after their period starts. You actually ovulate 14 days BEFORE your period starts, because the average woman has a 14 day "luteal" phase..during which the egg is released and either is fertilized and implants in the womb, or is NOT fertilized and triggers the chain of events that leads to your period starting. The reason people assume you ovulate on cd14 is because most women have an average 28-day cycle. And if you do the math, cd14 and 14 days before your period starts are THE SAME DAY on a 28-day cycle. However, because your cycles are longer, you are most likely ovulating closer to cd21 (14 days before your expected period). If you are, in fact, ovulating closer to cd14 it would be very difficult to become pregnant because anything longer than 16 days and anything shorter than 10 days in the luteal phase are considered "luteal phase defects" and make it very hard for an egg to become fertilized and survive.

So I would say you haven't even ovulated yet....but it is possible that you ovulated early (which would mean that your cycle would NOT be 35 days long this month, because once you ovulate you can expect your period within 12-16 days unless you have a LPD) and what you experienced WAS implantation bleeding...but I wouldn't base my theory on the feeling of letdown in your boobs...I would just take a test now, and if it comes out negative wait until you expect your period and see what happens. if you're TRYING to conceive, I would start having sex every day until cd25 from now on...and if you're NOT, I would refrain from sex for the next week or use very good protection.

Hope this response made sense, good luck
