10 weeks pregnant

I just went to my first ob dr appt and they tried to hear the heart beat and couldn't at all. my mom was with me and she looked so upset and the more the day went on i talked to strangers who were pregnant, nurses and doctors and family  most of them said not to be upset but to go like the doc advised to get the sonogram. i really am starting to get scared and worried that this little guy might not be okay? which is breaking my heart. i have followed all of the rules and i can't help but to think there's something wrong. i know my uterus can be tilted making it harder to hear or they could be off with the times but two doctors both put me at 10 weeks. so there's my concern.. should i expect the worst and hope for the best? has anyone else had a similar issue and how did you deal with it. i'm mostly just asking for advice, i know it can go either way. but believe me i desperately want my baby to be strong healthy and safe. i know this is my first pregnancy but mothers are supposed to keep the baby safe that's our instinct. im very anxious thats why im putting this up here for some real life experiences with these, good or bad.
im curious as to what is going on.
Thanks!

Thanks guys! It does make me feel alot better definately. I haven't bleed or anything. The only thing that I don't know if it's normal is that I feel like I have mild menstrual cramps. Is that normal? That's the only thing I can think of right now that to me isn't what I read about. Like I feel cramping sometimes. I asked my cousin that has a 3 year old and she said it was normal. I could just be thinking of all these things and they might not have anything to do with what's going on. I am thinking positive. A week from now I have an appt for the ultrasound so I guess until then I will update what is going on. It still ***** though. I know everything will be fine either way (:

Ur baby is really small right now. sometimes its hard ti fine the heart beat that early. I didn't Starr going ti the doctor until I was 17 weeks and it took them awhile to find my sons heart beat. I wouldn't worry.

It is only.natural to worry. The same thing happened to me with my first and everything was fine, he will be 10 in 2 weeks time. It is really hard, but try to stay calm. If you haven't had any bleeding or cramping then there is a high chance that the baby is fine. It can sometimes be difficult to find the heartbeat, especially if the baby is moving a lot at the time.

I was 11 weeks and my doctor couldn't hear the heartbeat so I went and got an ultrasound and we saw the baby's heartbeat. I understand how you feel completely I was beyond worried and scared when she sent me to get the ultrasound but in the end I got to see my baby and know that it was ok. Hope everything works out for you.
