There are things you need to have checked. Im a stickler about this because i had preeclampsia with my first, there are also common things like gestational diabetes its good that you eat healthy but they can still happen. Are these being checked when you go to the ER? Every woman is different just make sure you are taking care of anything you may feel is not right.
Thank you all for your input !! (:
Its true, women have been having children way before any tests.
They were also having children early because of life span.
Personally i dont think prenatal care is necessary if you think you dont have anything to worry about. (No std, uti's)
Believe me, youd know if you had a kidney infection.
If anything, if there is somethig wrong with baby theres not much the dr can do anyway.
If you're not going to regular appointments it's great you're eating well, checking in with the hospital every now and then, and I'd suggest familiarizing yourself with signs and symptoms of complications to look out for. I'm high risk, as I was last pregnancy, so am already about to start fortnightly appointments. I'm getting a bit sick of drs so am a little jealous of you right now!
my mom had my little sister 8 months ago and she didn't know she was pregnant until 7 months because she was still getting her period. so she basically went the whole pregnacy without prenatal care. she did have to get serious surgery because the baby was growing in the wrong spot. but my little sister is healthy and my mom is doing good now also. I guess its good to get checked just to make sure your baby is going in the right tube. but congrats on your blessing:)
I'm 20 weeks and 5 days, tomorrow is my first dr appointment, i went to the hospital 4 days ago because of back pain and i ended up having 3 infections, including a very bad kidney infection that was complicating my pregnancy. But baby Is fine, ive only heard the heart beat so far from the monitoring they did in the ER, apparently i was sick a long time but didn't know BC i hadn't been to the Dr. the problem was i lived in Texas, could not afford insurance and did not qualify for medicaid, but i moved to Idaho this month where the standards are different, moved in with my husband and we qualify for medicaid now, so i made an appointment asap . I regret not going sooner but BC of the circumstances it was out of my control.
Where im from there are no free clinics & prenatal appt are 2-300$ an appt.
Im actually waiting my insurance to kick in.
Im 23 weeks as of today.
Ive felt my baby kick at 18 weeks & feel him very often.
Ive had ultrasounds through the hospital because i like to go every few months to make sure everything is going okay.
Ive done a gender reveal, so ive also seen the baby & heard the heartbeat through that as well.
I know my baby boy is healthy.
Ive been taking prenatal vitamins since the day i found out i was pregnant at 4 weeks & ive eaten incredibly healthy..
Alot of ppl say that prenatal care isnt completely necessary but i was just curious who went through thwir pregnancy without it...
I mean, women have been having babies for millions & millions of years & there wasnt always all these drs & tests..
8 weeks is when they recommend making an appointment. You should take prenatals because your babies brain develops first and needs extra folic acid.
I'm 8 weeks as of tomorrow and haven't gottin a ultrasound and I don't know which prenatal vitaims to take. Like I have one but I don't think they are the right one. Imma just start taking them tomorrow. But I'm not gonna be able to do my first ultrasound until the end of this month.
Wait you have a sonogram, maybe you were not talking about yourself ;)
Thats not a good thing to do, no judgment here just saying its not a good thing. I think health departments offer prenatal care. Have you been taking prenatal vitamins?
