Yes it is true, partially. Its not an allergy so much as it is an intolerance. My niece was unable to tolerate breast milk (regardless of dietary changes made by my SIL) and had to be put on a formula that was very broken down.
I'm not due till DEC but my mom brought it up and I didn't know if it was even possible lol funny how when you are pregnant you hear all these things but I never heard of it and all my friends and sister in law has had children
@ a_love I didn't find that rude lol. But I just didn't know it was true. My mom said that I was allergic to her breastmilk and that's why she didn't breastfeed (if she isn't lying) and I looked it up and found it is mostly what you eat not milk itself. I just never heard of this.
Apologizing now I just realized how rude my last post sounded ^^^ it def wasn't meant to come off like that :)
Its not the actual milk of the mother but the dairy the mother ingests and it is very possible my niece had issues and she was strickly breastfed, the doctor told her mother to cut all dairy put of her diet because what you eat puts the nutrients in your breast milk
Yes they can have a dairy allergy, but that's not your milk, its from u drinking milk and having a lot of dairy. Like the lady said above. If you stop eating it they will be fine.
Umm..pretty sure it's not possible. Breast milk is not the same as cow milk, I have never heard of a baby being allergic to it's mamas milk.
Alot of the time its the dairy in your diet they are allergic to and if you cut it out they tend to get better. Although that's not always the case if its severe enough baby will need to be put on a soy based formula. Usually its the same signs as colic they will cry all the time because their bellys hurt , they can become constipated, sometimes even a rash will appear
