see, that's a better way of looking at it lol!!!
you could help him out, b y advertising on craigslist for him! and heck, i made a geocities page for chris, and he got alot of calls, plus, i made him a seperate myspace for it.....even though i rarely check the myspace, i get messages from it every other day! and alot of messages! about 3 a day, because when you put in customs, as a search, sometimes you get the myspace page!
I'm hoping he hires help right away. But I dont think he will. But it's thats not bad because the shop is 2 miles away from our house so he isn't very far away if I need him. It's very exciting and stressful at the same time. There's just soooo many different things to consider & take care of when starting a business. But I trust this is the right thing to do. If not, we're in a big city and he has lots of skills.. he'll find another job asap..
~thanks for your thoughts and prayers Linzola!
i like desert speed!
and ya know what? it's good he finally did this! it shows he's getting on the ball, and he probably started thinking if he waited any longer, he wouldnt be able to do it after the baby came(it's selfish in a way, but makes ALOT of sense!).....chris was going to do customs with his cousin, and a friend(1 do interiors, 1 do exteriors, the other do painting/tires), but we moved here instead...he is still thinking of doing it after we're able to save money, and his cousin moves out here(that way chris can keep his job, and his cousin run the bizz).....but i'm sure it'll all work out....just to give you some heads up, there might be *1* month where things are tight(as he'll have all those bills due at one time), but by the 3rdmonth, it'll be running smoother....hey not only that, you can always take some classes, and be the business accountant! that's what i'll do when the guys open their bizz!
good luck, and try to think of the +'s in it! it's hard, but it'll work out! maybe he'll be able to hire someone to help, so he can keep his clients when he wants to be home with you and your new bundle!
Oh girl....I feel your pain....My husband is giving his 2 week notice on Mon. and starting his own business....He's a licensed land surveyor....We live very comfortably right now, so I hope we're not in for it! I think that he will do very well, as people always need land surveyed...but it still freaks me out! Esp. with a little one on the way! All we can do is encourage and trust them I guess! (DEEP BREATHS!!!!)...LOL!
I will keep you and your family in my prayers, but I am sure everything will be okay... Good Luck and keep us posted...
If he doesn't you can run into a load of troubles....with the IRS , government agencies, zoning boards, accident liabilities, the list goes on. I work for a family owned business and I've learned that starting and running one is NOT as cut and dry as it seems. If he performs work on a car and somehow accidently messes something up, that person drives off and has an accident...if he has no insurance and is not licensed and his place of business is not ZONED for that kind of work....he can be in a world of hurt and can actually be found CRIMINALLY negligent...meaning jail time and fines possibly.
Make sure he isn't jumping in head first.
Good point! I should ask him about that aspect of it. I hope he has it all figured out but who knows.. we'll see
I certainly hope he's checked into the legalities, licensing, taxes etc. There is FAR more to running a business than just doing the work and getting paid. There's also insurance and liabilities and on and on. I hope for your families sake he has REALLY thought this through and done thorough research.
Thanks for the kind words. I think it will work out too. It's just all happening so fast!
We're trying to think of a name for it, which do you like better: MONTANA MOTO(Montana means mountain in Spanish and we live by the mountains) or DESERT SPEED?
thanks for any input! I can't believe it is really happening! It feels like a big risk to me but he sees it as a huge upgrade :D
i would feel llike you maybe its better to wait until after the baby is born but sometimes its no better time then the present..i hope it works out if not try taking out a loan just to cover the bills until the money starts rolling in
im sure he will stay busy working, i work at a car dealership.... and i know how often the darn things break down. it aint cheap to fix them either!! lol ... you guys will be just fine!!! good luck to you.
Trust him , he's in a good field my DH whole family are in the car repair /autobody business and if he already is booked that far in advance it shows he knows his stuff, belive me the only thing you will have to worry about is him never get that black grease off his hands, Congratulations to him and you must be nerve wracking with everything starting, baby, house ,business but you will do just fine.
