baby monitors !?

ok so for my baby shower i got a regular monitor & a video monitor... but i'm a lil bit of a paranoid mommy already & he's not even here yet lol. i wanted the one that goes under his mattress that senses his movement & breathing. but now i like the idea of a video monitor so i can see him.. so i'm about to return both the ones i have & buy the new Angelcare one that does sound, video & senses movement for like $250. i feel like it'd give me a lot more piece of mind! or am i going overboard? lol

I would just kjeep dogs locked out of certain rooms. They could knock the.bassinet over but if you had locks that wouldn't be a problem. Also newborns are best off away from animals until their immune systems get a nit.stronger. babies that young Arr so sensitive to.germs ...bacteria and infections. Like I said I'd just have baby next to my bed and make sure the dogs are kept out of certain rooms. X

You're right, they do have to get close.  In the report they mentioned having the equipment in a vehicle and driving until they picked up a feed.

ooo never thought of someone hacking the video monitor "/ would they have to be close though? i live in the country kinda far from neighbors. & my baby will have to sleep in his crib. i have two pit bills that know how to open doors. theyre the sweetest things & love kids, but theyre so strong they can be overwhelming.. l imagine them jumping in his basket & attacking him with kisses in the middle of the night or during naps. but the positive of the 3-in-1 monitor is you can disable any of the functions.

Not to make you more paranoid, but your video feed can easily be hacked allowing people to see the baby and their room. Both thieves and pedophiles take advantage of this tactic. I was talking about this with several parents at my workplace. It was aired on a news show but I forget which one. 20/20 maybe?

I honestly think the movement ones will make you more.paranoid. I know people who have had them and the alarm has gone off for no reason and scared them.to.death. of course its up to you but I had baby in a Moses basket next to my bed for the first three months..then in her cot in my room until she was 8monyhs then cot in her own.room with a normal sound monitor. Having her in my room for over half a year was very reassuring and will.do the same with the next one. Like I said this is only.my opinion so good luxk with whatwxer you chose. It's your choice :)
