I also waited til I knew the sex and that everthing was going well to buy anything. I've had 2 miscarriages and I hated seeing baby stuff after them. So waiting seemed right for me. I wouldn't even accept freebies til after my first ultrasound. But as soon as I knew the sex I collected all the free stuff from everyone. Which was ALOT! all I actually bought was my crib bedding set, some socks, bibs, binkys, monitors and a blanket I loved. I got lucky that my best friend had a boy in January and she gave me loads of clothes, I got my crib and pack&play, and highchair and breast pump from my uncle, my sis gave me a swing, car seat and stroller. Got a bouncer, tub, and dresser/changing table from another friend. Rocking chair from my grandpa. And pretty much everything else I needed at mybaby shower. I got really lucky. Needless to say
If you're having a baby shower I would wait until after it to get most of the little things and especially clothes. At my last baby shower i had enough baby wash and lotion to last a year lol. And everyone loves buying clothes for a new baby. If you can afford it now would be the perfect time to buy the bigger stuff or practical stuff that usually doesn't get bought for showers. Like crib, cradle or bassine and Car seat. Swing or bouncy and stroller. Practical stuff like bottles (even if breast feeding you might want a few incase you pump) a bottle brush and bottle drying rack are super helpful too.
I guess I could wait til later on to buy clothes, but I'm going to o start buying diapers and baby wipes and a few socks and little mittens so baby doesn't scratch himself.
I would try and wait to buy clothes (i say this with hindsight. I started at 6 weeks) i bought a lot of unisex stuff. When i found out i was having a girl i looked at the stuff and had to take it back. It wasnt pretty enough. We bought a box of diapers (nappies here in the uk) every week or things like wipes/cotton wool etc. Im due in 4 weeks all i need is a changing bag now glad i dont have to rush.
Diapers u can never go wrong with diapers .. not just newborn size but other sizes just incase money gets tight at some point u have diapers n wipes :) oh n make sure u buy diffrent brands just incase ur babys skin is delicate u can test them out till u find a brand just rite
Personally I didn't buy anything until I found out the sex of the baby. I wanted to do my scan to make sure everything was going OK before I bought anything. So I waited until 18w then just bought wipes and diapers then baby clothes
Lol I have a like 6 or 7 maternity jeans already my mom bought for me and shirts as well. None of my jeans fit anymore lol. I'm not really worried about me, just what to buy for baby.
Make sure you buy unisex stuff! Onesies and bottles and babywash... Etc. But first, I would buy some maternity clothes, pants at least, and some bras that support, but give you room to grow.... Right now I only have one bra that fits comfortably, but it smooshes me into a giant uniboob... I need to go shopping...lol
Oh ok so I would definitely get shorts now. You can find them super cheap online or in stores. You can also pick up lots of cotton undershirts, you can never have too many of those lol. Bibs, burp rags and baby towels & washcloths.
Yeah the weather here is super Hot. Like 110F.
Start off with the essentials, diapers &wipes, lots of onsies and depending on your weather in June, short sleeved rompers. Now would also be a good time to stock up on shorts because of clearance sales in department stores. Congrats :)
