Doulamommy is right...
I too hope to vbac but because I had a uterine rupture and placental abruption they said they gotta check my scars first. But everything I've read says vbac is fine x
Depending on the incision, why they did the first surgery, and your health this time around, Vbac is actually tons safer than repeat surgery, especially if you plan to have more kids. The risk of uterine rupture increases slightly, but a lot of people don't realize that "after pains" (contractions to hep the uterus clamp back down) can cause this as well as vaginal birth. You get after pains either way, plus your throw in the risk of infection and whatnot from surgery.
Chances are you will have to have another C section. Doctors say there many risk to having a vaginal birth after a c section. I'm having one again(25wks)
I agree with the first comment . I just had my 2nd csection when I was 38+5 due to complications . But it really does just depend on your doc and if they do vbac . My doc(s) don't do them cause there's not enough docs where I live . And my docs have you schedule your csection (if you've had one before) @ your 36 week app for when your 39 weeks just cause you don't go on your own . I was induced and had an emergency csection with my oldest cause I wouldn't dilate past 3.5cm after my water broke . Just talk to your doc and ask , your still pretty early in your pregnancy so if your doc don't do vbac ask if there is a doc that can .
Ive been wondering the same because I'm 25 weeks an I'm scheduled for c section at 39 weeks an I haven't seen my doctor yet to ask.
That's a question for your doctor because everyone's policies are different. If that is something you want and your doctor doesn't support it, the earlier you switch to a Vbac friendly doc, the more likely you are to have one. If you'd prefer a repeat c section, and your doctor is big on Vbac, you might want toswitch as well. It really depends on your preferences but you do need to discuss it with your doctor and get on the same page.
