beta not doubling - could it be ectopic??

According to date of conception (through IVF) I am 4 wks and 5 days.  My first hcg on Friday was 196, progesterone was 36.  Sunday my hcg was 246 and progesterone was 48.  My hcg is not doubling as they expected.  The nurse mentioned ectopic pregnancy. I go back tomorrow for more blood work.  I am devastated, this was our one and only shot. Praying it doubles!  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I know many women who's levels did not double at first and went on to have a healthy prenancy. I wouldnt stress about it until you know for sure. Your in my thoughts and I hope everything works out okay for you. Keep us updated. I hope everything turns out to be okay tomorrow.

I would not pay much attention to what she said  in the sense that she is calling so many people back with their levels and results that she probably did not see you had 3 implanted ....I had the brown spotting on my insert as well - the cervix gets a little unhappy with the catheder from the implant and that is normal.. As long as it is not bright red with cramping I would just relax.  Let me know how your levels come out tomorrow.... I do think that is a pretty strong start number... I think I did not hit over 300 until 4 weeks 5 days. I think it was 14dpo ( I had 3 day transfer of 3) 80ish then two days later 190ish then over 300 for the third test.... I know mine doubled okay - but I only had one take - as I really think you are going to be fine.... I have read that some people have higher levels - a dip and then up again and they believed it was multiples and one sadly did not continue - but the good news is the other did ... Fingers Crossed...

Tomorrow is my next levels.  My nurse was at my RE office.  I hope you are right.  I have had some brown spotting, not in my underwear but on my progesterone suppository (sorry TMI).  Thanks so much for listening and answering.

It could be that more than one took and then it did not make it causing the level to drop a little.... I know it happens - an etopic pregnacy from IVF - but it is rare from what I remember since they are putting it in your uterus  and the meds they give you make the lining pretty thick - for it to travel backwards .... did the nurse know that you did IVF ?  My personal opinion is that more than one took to get the first levels and did not make it much further than that - but that you have at least one that is chugging along...Try not to stress about it... at this point there is nothing you can do but pray.... when do you get your next levels?

I transferred 3 embryos, all 8 cell grade 4(highest for my lab) on day 3.

It could have implanted later than expected.... my fingers are crossed for you..I did IVF as well - I am not sure of my HCG numbers it seems like forever ago... but your first number was really good - mine I think was like 80 ish...how many embryos did you transfer?  Was it a 3day or 5day ?
